I caught a 28 incher in Baffin Bay last month. If you’re gonna make the trek, might as well go to big trout Mecca.

Headed to laffy sat to visit family. Where would yall go between there and houston on sunday. Looking to explore new water. Only place I've fished in this stretch is west cove once and with hunting season in swing probably avoid that

I'd go check out Sabine Lake and see if you can find decent trout

I'm thinking that may be a good place to try. Never even been off the interstate in that area.

Sunday i would take the Nugget exit and launch at the Isreal LaFleur north 210 yak area. Fish the channel to the west on a falling tide for trout, west side 210 flat for reds, bayou Dein for reds, Contraband bayou for trout/flounder, PPG cut for flounder/trout/reds.
You're welcome NJ
PS
Sabine is a long haul from interstate, only launch that can be safely used by a yak (Deep Bayou).

Any of yall went to the PAC reopening? Drove down a little later Saturday morning to wait out the rain. Launched around 9:45 and fished about 4 hours. Caught about a dozen keeper trout along the power lines before heading in to make it home and unload before the LSU game.

Not sure, as of now probably not but that can change. I may have some obligations to go out to the duck lease to help pump/brush blinds now that we finally have water. 12-15mph winds isn't very attractive but at least it is somewhat eastern.

I am usually pretty non-committal until the night before. Just ask Lefty, Unc, and No8 every time we try to get a plan together .

We found them thick on Sunday.

Went chase some green trout this morning. Only 7 worth keeping, but caught probably 20 total. Two O’clock Bayou.

I should’ve brought my perch jerking gear. Lots of crappie being caught on black/chart jigs, white jigs, and minnows. I saw quite a few nice ones boated.

For the crappie? Or the bass? Or both?

I had a feeling before I left the house this morning that I should at least bring one crappie pole. But I decided not to. Man, I was slapping myself watching people catch em today.
