Where is the Minimalist Challenge?
Posted on 1/22/20 at 11:07 am to No8Easy2
I may go somewhere Saturday

I haven't fished since October and it's killing me, I was thinking about maybe going this weekend if I can.

I may do PAC on Saturday. I do have a lot to do around the house though.

We had a pretty cool announcement over at BCKFC last night...
The winner of this year’s Fall N Tide slam tournament will receive an invitation to the Hobie Worlds. Typically less than 10 of these invites go out per year, so this is a pretty special opportunity to fish our home waters and have a chance to qualify.
Oh yeah...and it’s on Hwy 1 this year instead of Hwy 23

They should pretty much cancel the tournament since it’s on hwy1 and give it to me
I won’t catch a single fish that day.

Really wanted to get into tournaments but after fishing in them for a yr or so I just find em miserable, but for the same reason I can’t find a damn fish the day of
Found a couple more at PAC yesterday, water is the cleanest I’ve ever seen

Yeah tournaments are tough. Several times I’ve got on them in practice and not catch them the day of
Nice catch. It’s been a while since I got on the reds
Pretty much all winter I fish for trout off LA-1

If anyone is looking for a Hobie PA12 I just listed mine on Facebook. Has 180 drive, lights, Power Pole bracket, Marine Mat, etc. $2200 OBO. Located in Youngsville.

I saw someone shared a listing for an ivory PA with the brown marine mat on the Bayou Coast FB group earlier. Assuming thats your yak? Heck of a deal and shouldnt take long to sell at that price
ETA: what yak you plan on replacing it with?

That's a PA14, mine is a 12. I know the guy selling that one. He's from Crowley.

Are you planning to go to the new style outback? I still haven’t tried one out yet. What makes you want to switch back?
Posted on 2/12/20 at 7:15 am to YOURADHERE
Yeah, I want the 2020 with the kick up fins. I thought I needed the room of the PA and the rod holders. I've learned to pack light and my rods are kept vertical behind me. The OB is faster and better in the wind and current. I actually still have my old OB which I may have to use for a while.

new style outback
Was looking at Matt’s and Butch’s rig last Sat
I like the layout and they had good things to says bout em, but said they did miss the room
guess that’s what would bother me also but once the PA gets to heavy for me to load/ combat launch I’m downsizing to a outback
But @ 3K that’s not anytime soon

That's why I'll have to fish out of my old one for a while. Even if I can get $2k for my PA that's at least another grand out of my pocket.
Btw, mark your calendars. Beer and Gear Friday March 6th.

I fished out of a buddy's 2019 Outback one day and its a huge difference in steering or when having to pull the drive up to paddle through grass compared to my PA. But I just can't see myself giving up the extra space of the PA. I have a tough time packing light
Posted on 2/12/20 at 11:43 am to Tiger Prawn
The 360 PA would probably solve my biggest issue with the PA, buy ain't no way I'm paying that.

Go big! I was surprised at how many 360’s i saw at the launch for Minimalist Challenge. Must’ve seen about 6 of them
