Nice mess of trout. Hopefully the trout bite is still on next weekend. Plan on making the trip down for their grand re-opening celebration.

It was nice meeting you at the dock at PAC on Monday. I was the guy you helped load my yak on my SUV.

I looked at the tide forecast for fishing and it looks like a shitty weekend for fishing so probably not. I may mention it to the wife and see her reaction to determine if I will give it a chance. If I go it will probably be Port Sulphur. What about you?

Yeah behind the school. I don't have to do a lot of peddling there and I am trying to learn one area really well. I decided to go do some bank fishing this morning at Lake Pontchartrain. I don't expect much but that is another area that I would love to learn which would make fishing very convenient for me.

The lake is tough to fish, but if you can get dialed in you can catch some hammer trout. One of the few places in the state with occasional 8-10 pounders. I’ve caught some nice trout, but do I think I’m dialed in? Nope. That lake can humble you

Why do some of you Yakkers go full blown? Guy at c pt today had tunes, gps/depth finder, pp and yeti outfit to catch fish??
Peddled off jamming to some bro tunes.

Presumably because they feel it helps them catch more fish? I run a depth finder in open water but no power pole. But sometimes, especially when fishing smaller bodies of water or rivers, I ditch all electronics and really minimize my gear. The simplicity has its advantages but also its limitations.

To each his own.

If I’m making long runs I’ll load up my yak. If I’m making short runs I try to be very simplistic

I’d say for the same exact reasons someone in a boat would have tunes, gps/depth finder, pp, and yeti.

That sounds badass. Don't tell me any more, I might end up with all that

Saw some really good fishing reports all over this past weekend. Lots of people limiting out on trout. Time to start using up some vacation days.

I know this is a longshot, but anybody ever yak fished Port O'connor on the mid Texas coast? Heading there for the weekend. Tons of youtube videos of the area, but i haven't fished it.

I haven’t but I have a friend that fishes there from Austin. He catches a lot of 4-6 lb trout there

I called a guide and he is going to shuttle us and the kayaks down to some secluded back lakes in Mule Slough. Figured we will need some protection from the wind. I'll pick the guides brain on the boat ride.
