This is very personal. One of my best friends always uses live bait. I would never try to convince someone to not use it.
I dislike everything about using live bait. Especially in a kayak. The searching for it, the buying of it, the extra bucket, the trying to keep them alive, the technique(or lack there of).
Besides what I find to be a hassle(not trying to tell you it's a hassle for you), I simply get more enjoyment out of getting bites on artificial. The same for fresh water. I have not bought shiners in years because while I may catch more on them, I enjoy the whole process more if I catch them on jigs.

I always get live bait if I have the opportunity. I'd prefer to catch on plastics but sometimes they just want live. I have one of the Frabill troll buckets you get at academy. When I am fishing, I will let it drag in the water behind me, but when I am moving I will pick it up out of the water and set it next to me.
I will probably ask for one of the Wilderness Systems livewells for Christmas so I don't have to worry about dragging that bait bucket.

How often do you use menhaden? That seems like the easiest live bait I can get using my cast net before I launch my yak. Are they effective with trout/redfish?

New outback has been preordered! Very excited! This is what I have been wanting for quite some time.

Not terribly often. I usually grab shrimp if I can. I like using 2" finger mullet if those are an option as well.

Congrats. From what I've heard they have already sold a ton of them. I have to demo it first though.

For sure. I did a demo of the compass among others, and I was close to pulling the trigger on it. I'm glad I decided to wait. It includes a lot of the features I would have wanted to add to the compass and has a better seat. I tried the native and jackson, but I just did not care for the bicycle drive motion. Personal preference of course.

Did you see that Eli is selling his Cruise FD? Wonder what he is getting.

Another Jackson of some sort I’m sure. I’m not sure how Jackson works it but I know the guys on the Hobie team have to buy a new one every year.

I went to P&P Friday and they have the Jacksons marked down a couple hundred dollars.

Does this not seem really far forward for a seating position?

Looks like it to me. The rear cargo area looks huge though. Only concern I'd have was whether there's enough leg room up front for someone like me to pedal comfortably at 6'3"
ETA: Maybe they did it to balance out weight distribution so it doesn't make the kayak too back-heavy with a seat thats further back and people loading Yeti/RTIC/NC style coolers that weigh 60~ lbs when full of ice and fish/drinks

quote:Maybe it's because I'm old and inflexible, but I much prefer having storage in front of me. I can't get to stuff behind me very well. That's why the trend of having that covered storage up front pisses me off. Give me that open front like the Slayers have and I'me very happy.

Sort of does but it may be the angle of the picture? I have to swing by Pack and Paddle sometime this week and want to check them out. That rear tankwell looks huge.

Didn’t see any on the water yesterday, did you?
Was a solid day at PAC, didn’t enter the tourney but im thinking a couple of these fish would’ve helped someone
