IMO you can catch just as many fish on those as you can on anything. It’s more about comfort and convenience and how hard you have to work to do so, compared to a Hobie or Jackson. Don’t be down on your yaks. They look great. Hope you have great success and welcome to the club!

Welcome to the club! I would just say be prepared to open your pocketbook it’s simply just the start , the mods are next!
Hell it just goes to show that you don’t need to drop 2500 on a rig to catch fish or just enjoy the time on the water
Everybody’s needs are different and there’s no perfect kayak for everyone, if it fits ya style
just enjoy! And from what I remember those Catch boats are very stable and pretty well made but you may want to look into adding a rudder it’s a game changer if ya fish in any moving water

Has anyone else noticed the abundance of kayaks that went up for sale this weekend? I gues Hobie is about to make a fortune on the new Outback.
Noticed it yesterday as well. I wonder what Hobie's plans are for the PA12. The new Outback is a hybrid of sorts.

where are yall looking? I'm starting (early stages) of my research for a used hobie
But I may end up waiting a few months and financing a new one (I think the backpacker does that????)

Facebook Marketplace mostly. You can also find some posted in the local kayak club forums like BCKFC. I believe the Backpacker does 6 months same as cash or does some 12-24 month financing options at like 5-7%. Don't quote me on that ,though.

Where are most people fishing for the tournament on September 8th so I'll know where to avoid? Lol
Posted on 8/27/18 at 2:13 pm to LSUlefty
Literally all over the place, at the weigh in there will be people that fished at Choupique, West Cove, Crab Lady, PAC, Cocodrie, Leeville, Grand Isle, Fourchon, etc.
I'm still undecided where I'll go, I REALLY want to fish West Cove as I haven't done so in quite some time but without knowing what's happening down there I'll probably play it safe and hit PAC. For this tournament I've fished Grand Isle, PAC, and West Cove and not once did I ever run into a "packed" area.

I fished Choupique Saturday and caught 2 Reds and 2 Flounder. No trout though. Was also thinking West Cove.

that another Lafayette club tournament?
Posted on 8/27/18 at 2:43 pm to No8Easy2
I caught a trout there 3 weeks ago near the ship channel.

Yep, September 8th, fish anywhere in the state with a weigh in at Pack & Paddle in Lafayette.
They're also raffling off a Solo Skiff for that one, one tournament entry gets 1 raffle ticket, additional raffle tickets can be purchased.

There was an LKFC member that I remember used to fish there often and would catch some really nice trout out of Choupique down by the ship channel. It was always during the winter though.

Never fished it in the winter months with the cove being so close and Hwy 1 fishing, but thinking I need to make a trip and hit around that channel

Just saw this come across my Instagram feed. Blue Sky's new tandem model. That thing has to be about 7' wide

At what point are they just starting to frick with us?
Posted on 8/27/18 at 6:18 pm to Drunken Crawfish
At least now there’s room for dual power poles AND a trolling motor in the rear or rudder mounted torqueedo
Posted on 8/27/18 at 6:21 pm to Tiger Prawn
How do you haul that fricking thing?
