Was actually just trying to decide if I wanted to wade fish or launch the kayak, since I have a short window. You got a spot in mind? I haven't gotten down to the Bay to look at the water this week after the rains.

Yeah, they just responded that they're sold out.

I don’t have a kayak. The water seems to be fine from what I can tell. I wouldn’t call it chocolate milk, and it’s not particularly windy right now.

Had any success fishing off of some of those piers?

I'm definitely thinking about it. Not crazy about a 3 hour drive.

Convinced myself to load up the yak for a quick run this morning. It was absolutely perfect on the Coast this morning - 73* no wind at all and clear skies.

Missed several blowups on topwater, so switched to a suspending bait and no takers. Finally got on a few with a jig and then had to head out. Could see the bottom in 6+ ft of water, which was real surprising.

Fished the pier by SSC in BSL. Caught two pogies, a puppy drum, a gafftop, and a mossy fishing pole and penn reel all on a gulp chartreuse mullet

Big school of what looked like Jack Crevalle was voraciously feeding. One of them cut my line. Another big fish broke my line. I can only assume it was a black drum or a gafftop by the way it dove straight to the bottom right under the pier

Does it still work? If so, that's the catch of the day there.

Some old redneck on the pier really wanted it, so I gave it to him. I’m sure the reel would work after some TLC. It was a Penn 4000

I bought the Origin TX when it was on sale and after 2 trips I haven't been impressed. I prefer my Garcias. I changed the line out yesterday and adjusted the centrifugal brake. We'll see how it goes.

The Concept C is about the only one I found to be a really good reel. The origins are pretty meh, and the inception, you can get better for the price.

To be fair, that opinion is based mostly on just looking at the construction. I briefly owned an inception and sold it to a coworker after one use. I didn’t like it. I used a friends Concept C for a little while and it worked very well and the construction is pretty solid.

I'm a little biased when it comes to baitcast reels. Other than a Shimano Bantam I got for my 16th birthday (still have it btw) I've only owned Garcias.
