Saw that. If Hobie has a patent, how is that possible? I guess they could liscense it to pelican but I don’t see that happening

Still trying to decide on a trailer build/plan. Really want it to have a small foot print. Nothing I have seen on an image search is really what I want. I'd love to find a used PWC trailer to mod. That, or maybe a really small utility trailer that I could add something like PVC or planks to get more length.

I figure-if I can get two boats down on the bottom layer, it's just a matter of stacking the rest on top of each other.

Patent ran out maybe? It definitely didn’t look like any of the newer style drives, maybe it’s a recreation of one of the old drives.

I was watching Planet Earth this week, and there are cultures in Asia that actually paddle like that.

Probably start at the kayak launch on the island and work my way north. No clue really.

Yep, I'm going to try to prefish the weekend of 7/14 but I'm technically supposed to be on call for work. I may fish anyway.

Yep, the patient on the original style mirage drive ran out. I am curious how that will impact Hobie's pricing.

You can catch a glimpse of the new drive in this video. It looks exactly like the old Hobie setup. I do like that it has a cover on the mirage drive hole so you don't get water in the cockpit area of your boat.

Skip to 2:30 to get past a lot of unnecessary commentary Look at the Pelican Mirage Drive

Yep the patent expired. The current drive patent expires in 10 years. It will be a good thing for new innovations and hopefully driving prices down. Also at ICast Jackson is going to showcase a motor with battery that mounts where the pedal drive mounts on the FD. No clue how long the battery will last but it will be nice for those not wanting to add a motor on the back of a yak like the torqeedo

No mandatory check-in the morning of, so if you don't want to get on the water until 7am you're allowed to do so. This one always ends up being our biggest tournament of the year. The club has some rooms available at Top Water, similar to what we did for Marsh Madness, so there will probably be a few of us hanging out Friday night again, not sure if anyone is cooking though.

Just found the thread on the forum, didn't realize they're all booked up. If you can find a few people also going Topwater probably has a few more available. They make you book for 2 nights though, I think it works out to about $70/person.
