Maybe the water was low, I don’t know. It’s a steep drop off to a deck then a steeper drop off to the water. It’s basically like dropping your kayak off of a bulk head probably 3ft down to a pier then down again another 3ft to the water. It’s steep enough that they have stairs to walk down to the second level. Also, there’s no pvc to slide your kayak on like Eddies. If you’ve ever launched at PAC when the water is really really low it’s like that except you have to drop it off the bulk head first then another steep drop to the water.

Glad I launched at Pip’s this AM. Only managed 2 small reds, no keepers. Grass was insane, at least the buck flies weren’t.

Saw one slot, but spooked it before I could get a bait in front of him.

Son’s All Star Baseball schedule and family vacations have eaten up my weekends until the end of July. And My fishing take home has been getting progressively worse each trip, I need to shadow some of you pros and try to learn a thing or twelve.

We went back out later that evening off old Hwy1. Had something big bend my hook, but that was pretty much it.

We were going to fish Leeville Saturday, but after talking with others, the water was pretty bad up there... so we fished the backside again and ended up with a 16" red to show for it. Launched again around 3pm at Thunder Bayou and managed a few more reds and a couple trout.

Bad fishing all around. Came home with 5 reds, 6 trout and a flounder after 2 days of fishing. Better than some, but still sucked.

Yeah definitely rough weekend of fishing... Butttt a bad weekend on the isle is still a great weekend. That was my first time fishing back there in a yak. I like the launch and the area though so will def be back ASAP.

We can usually put a hurting on them behind the island. Easy limits of specks just fishing around the island directly across from the launch. (Dutch island)

I’ll be back down that way in a couple weeks, weather permitting. Hopefully the fish cooperate!

Would this happen to be the kayak launch that shows up on google maps right next to the LDWF building?

If you're looking at the Kayak rods I have the 7' Med / Moderate rod. You're more than welcome to try it out next time we fish.

Has anyone made their own deck matting? I want to make my own out of a yoga mat (cheaper and I can choose color, design, etc) but I have no idea what to use to stick/glue it to my kayak. There are so many ideas out there pertaining to this but I want to make sure it will work and it sticks quite a while. Any ideas?
