Storage is overrated.

Take the pedal drive, pack less shite.

You could always stop at Pack and Paddle on the way through if you're still needing some tackle.

It's the "where to put the fish bag problem". I hate having both my tackle bag and fish bag behind me.

I agree. I prefer a small front hatch and a big tankwell. That's why I don't like Jackson's.

Soft side cooler on the bow, just in front of the foot pegs for me. With a little ice in there, the bottom edges of the cooler kinda droop down in behind the pegs and it holds in place perfectly. Also found that if it's sliding around, wet a hand towel to sit in on and it holds it in place pretty well.

I love the big console for all my tackle, right in front of the seat on my Cuda. Maybe more kayaks have these now, but I haven't compared in a couple years.

It's not that I need to actually store anything. It's that between the dumb Jackson-like covered hatch and the peddle drive, I can't put anything in front of me. So, life jacket, tackle bag and fish bag all must go behind me. In the Slayer, I have both the feets area and the open front for stuff. Pretty sure I will not buy another propel yak until this is changed.

Edit...the 13 has it. The cover they have is often shown in the pics and fooled me.

No foot pegs on mine, but I'll try to adapt some version of this with my Hopper.

I was certain the Jackson Flex Drive was going to be my next kayak, until I saw it up close. It's just too cluttered. Plus I've heard mixed reviews on the drive.

Anybody got any ideas for something to buy or make so that the 5" hatch bucket in the Native Slayer propel will be deeper? I'd like to carry my phone in there, but my iphone plus doesn't fit because the stock bucket isn't deep enough.

Good question.

Figured the easiest thing would be to cut out the bottom of the bucket and then install some sort of cloth bag on the bottom to make it a few inches deeper. Just don't want the bag to touch the hull in case there is some condensate in there.

How important are nets to you guys? I find I never really use mine.

I personally always use mine on trout, because they seem to always spit the hook right next to the kayak if I don't. I use a little short handled one with rubber mesh. It stays right behind my seat with the handle sticking out to the side, so I can easily grab it.

I prefer not to use a net with treble hooks

I go back and forth. I've lost some trout because I didn't have a net. But I had one about 26-28 inches that I lost last month because I was pulling it towards the net and my spook jr. treble got caught on the net and shook him off.
