Unc or Lefty, have either of you heard from No8 recently? He lost a $100 bet between him and I to see who would finish higher the yak tournament in March but he hasn't responded to my emails or posted on here lately. If any of you hear from him, tell him DC wants his money.

I was planning on it, but decided not to. I have a wedding that evening so I would be dead trying to both in a day.

Where are you fishing out of? I need to make a trip to the west side soon.

Not confirmed yet. A friend of mine just had a trailer made to carry 6 boats or so. I should know soon. Weather permitting of course.

Went down on Sunday. Found some decent water in Joe's cove and on the north east side of the lake. Just couldn't get on any consistent bite with the full moon.

If you are fishing the west side, Spicer's has a little live bait but you have to get there early.

I am about 99% sure I know the guy you are going with. It's amazing he is kayak fishing when he has a 24' ranger.

I really don't want to fool with live.

He and I both like the variety of it. I have a bay boat too, and I'm more excited about this.

I'm skipping the tournament as well. I fished the last 2 weekends with poor results. Gonna take a couple of weeks off.

Picked up some chunky MS trout this morning and a few puppy drum for tacos. Big fish went 4.3ish and was a male. Don’t remember ever catching a male that big.

I saw a couple reports from hackberry & west cove with some nice door mats. Hoping to find some this weekend.

I am not sure what to keep tied on. Would like to only bring 3 rods. Hmmmm.

Targetting trout?
Topwater
Suspending twitch bait(mirrolure/paul brown)
Jighead/plastic or Tsunami to tight line/bounce on the bottom

Targetting reds?
Topwater
Spinnerbait
Jighead/plastic or Buggs. Something that you can sight cast with.

That's usually my go-to to start with every time out.

ETA: You can sub out for a popping cork if that's your thing, I rarely ever mess with them.

Really just want bites. While I'd like to catch a few reds, I'd rather catch trout to take home. Flounder would be special.

I never fish topwater. Would not even know what to throw it at. Maybe I'll give it a try early if I even still have anything appropriate. Spook? Spittin' Image?

I have a bunch of Mirrodines.

I do like to keep one popping cork rig ready. I'll probably have a casting rod with a gulp shrimp on for reds/flounder, and I can just add a cork if needed.

Spooks, Skitterwalks, TopDog/SheDog/etc, Matrix Mullets are usually my go-to for topwaters. I just bought some Whopper Ploppers to try out. For reds I cast them the same areas I'd cast anything else when targeting reds, points, shallow flats, drains, etc. For trout I like throwing them near reef structures or stuff like that.
