Our Academy doesn't stock salt stuff, so if I were to go buy some topwater, I'd have to buy bass stuff.

Maybe I'll give it a try early if I even still have anything appropriate. Spook? Spittin' Image?

I use smaller in interior marsh and larger in outside bays/islands.

4-4.5" is a good all around length.

If you are limited to fresh water selection then try Rapala Skitterwalk and Spook OneKnocker

Who’s fishing this weekend?

I live near Ponchatoula, Trying to decide between traveling to fish saltwater or staying closer to home and trying out freshwater.

Trying to avoid excessive boat traffic, Does anyone know of any tournaments going on at PAC, Hopedale or Grand Isle?

I am tentatively planning a trip to Cypremort Point (it is close to my house, I am in Lafayette) either on Saturday or Sunday. Is is even worth my time going? Should I try another place that is within 2 hours?

If you’re pressed for time, hit up shark bayou. You may get a couple reds. But if you have the time, I’d look into PAC or Leeville.

I have been to PAC a few times. The place is great but such a pain to drive. Leeville is even further. Each time I go to Cypremort Point I am reminded to why I don't go often. It seems like it is too difficult to catch fish out there. What exactly is considered Shark Bayou? Does it include the canal that heads north from Shark Bayou and all the small cuts from there?

I see the salinity level is really low (LINK ). Is it worth going when it is this low or am I reading this incorrectly?

How accurate is this website with the best fishing times? LINK It appears that Saturday it would be best to fish around 11:30am during the day. Obviously I am new to this but I am trying to be a better fisherman rather than depend on places I have been, others' reports, etc. I have been studying quite a bit the past 8 months or so.

May be different for you, but I try not get too caught up in predictions. The best time to go fishing is when I can go.

Believe it or not that is considered high salinity for Vermillion Bay.

I hate the place passionately but there have been a few trout caught out there lately. One guy in a PA17 has been catching trout fairly consistently the last few weeks but I can never catch shite there.

If you do go I suggest just bouncing plastics on the bottom, prepare to get hung up a ton, troll if you can.

East Side. Probably Pelican Point. I've never fished there, but Matt has.

Good luck. I wish I could go more often. More and more of us up here are getting yaks. I just learned that one of my hunting buds and his son got them. We may be making more trips. All I need is a nudge. My fresh stuff goes away shortly anyway.

Pretty poor. I caught three very nice trout with almost no pattern to them. The guy with live shrimp caught a wide variety of stuff including reds, drum and sheeps. He also caught one large trout chasing some birds in the lake. Second time for me to have zero bites in the marsh parts.
