It's looking like that's gonna be my next stop.
Yucatan would be sick. A friend of mine went last spring and did well. If I went to Mexico I think it would be Xcalak.

The Sian Ka'an should be on everyone's must fish list.

What are the bass biting this time of year boys?

This thread needed a bump. Had been in contact w/ Marshfly about purchasing a Journeyman 8 wt. Needless to say they were dragging their feet getting the blanks and building. Couldn't even give me an estimate or time frame for when they would be built. Nothing against them as I think its cool what they are doing and wanted to support some Gulf Coast guys, but time kept ticking and I had an itch I needed to scratch. Decided to pull the trigger on an Orvis Recon. Hopefully will put a bend in it soon.

had a mixed bag last weekend. A few on poppers/sliders, a few on this big rabbit strip fly that suspends about 3-4 ft down. Best success was on meat whistles pulled real slow across the bottom.

The Recon is so much better than the marshfly it's hard to even compare the two.

I have a new 7wt setup coming in the next couple weeks. Went with another Meridian and broke my bank account. Unwise doing it right when duck season opened. I'm paying for it now. .

Did you go Nautilus again?

Yeah. I got a custom shop deal I couldn't pass up.
Or at least that's what I told myself.
eta: I also talked to those MarshFly dude(s). I got kinda weird vibes from them as well.

Finally got out - been months since I've hooked some trout. Hit the Catawba and North Toe rivers. The rain finally came this week and the fish were ready. Brought bout 25 or so to hand all 9-14 in.
Olive woolybugger and trout crack fly (above) were the ticket.

Anyone fly fish Northern Georgia (near Ellijay) or North Caroline (Bryson City)?
I usually stop on the way to Florida, and I've been trying to figure out what the weather is like down there?
Any other suggestions that are generally on the way from Iowa to Florida?
I appreciate any insight the locals might have.

Lots of good fishing all over this area.
It's getting cold right now, 30s-50s, finally been raining a few days here or there.

Will be in Branson dec 23-30. Anybody have experience below dam on Taneycomo? Like all tailwaters when wading you are at the mercy of generation.
Anybody have experience on this water in December?

Thanks. If it's in the 50's and no rain, I'll probably fish. If it's colder than this, I'll probably take a pass this year.
I look forward to this every year. I really like your part of the country, and I like the people.

So the 8wt 4pc in 9' is regular price but the 4pc 10' is $100 off? Is there a noticeable difference? Pros or cons?
