I am astonished that no one has mentioned the "pump pump pause" method... I know I have fished with more professional and semi professional fisherman than everyone on this board combined. I will prepare a write up on the method when I have the proper time.

Don't forget about "stroking". When the jig's on bottom, raise your rod to about 11:00 and drop with slack line. This hops the jig 2 or 3 feet off the bottom and fish catch it on the fall. Deadly on deep water/short grass.

A jig is one of the most versatile baits in your box. one of my best techniques is swimming it alongside a laydown or swimming it and killing it beside a stump.

jigs catch bigger fish on average than other baits. My Go to color is black/blue or chartreuse with a big blue Zoom pork chunk.

This is how I fish it. I believe I said "bounce it off the bottom". But this is exactly what I meant.

Throwing at cypress trees you will want to use a 3/8 oz swim jig. It will take awhile to get use to... But you will catch nicer fish

Speaking of, in the many instances I've fished with a pro, only one used a jig, and that was for all of about 45 minutes. Results: him 6 lbs, me around 17 and high am.
