Bro, you want some serious advice? If you really want a jeep, and want to get in to wheeling and doing some trail riding (and you will) pass on that jeep and start looking for an 05, 06 unlimited rubicon (commonly referred to as an LJ Rubicon or TJU). It will come pretty much setup and ready to go. it has the longer wheel base, Dana 44's front and rear, 4:10 gears, lockers and lifted enough to run 33" tires. You can probably find one with under 100k miles and even if has more, that straight six is damn near bullet proof. You will not find a single person, anywhere that will tell you the that motor is no good.

And just to add to that list, you won't be able to go anywhere without someone offering to buy it from you.

If you can swing it buy a 12 or higher the Chrysler crate motor in the 07-11 sucked compared to the pentestar engine

I don't want a four door. I know with two kids it'd be a lot easier with the extra space, but I don't like the look. Since this is just a play vehicle and I have my quad cab truck if I need the space its do able. The problem that arose last night was Mrs. Demon spotted the Expeditions on the lot and is bucking for a new car too.

Still looking at craigslist and around town. There's a jeep scrambler in Coushatta that looks cool. Ad says it has a chevy 350 with 4 speed manual trans.

Basically my dream ride. I always loved those things. I'll have one, one day. Just not reasonable to buy one now with young kids, but once they're a few years older, and my oldest is closer to driving age, I'll be on the lookout for one. She already wants my TJ, so I'll let her drive it in HS and college and it gives me an excuse to go get a Scrambler.

true, but some of the 12's have a bad driver's side head, so look for a late 12 on......

my opinion like others is to find a decent TJ with the 4.0

I'm a HUGE fan of my jku.

But if you don't like the look you don't like the look. I hear ya. I have always liked the look of the newer unlimited models since they came out. far more practical for my needs as well.

but i love pretty much any jeep.

If I was looking to trade my truck in and get a new or newer one I'd take a better look at the JKU but I'm just wanting a toy vehicle at the moment and the cost vs fun factor doesn't add up to me.

Should I stay away from a jeep with a snorkel?

Unlike ATVs most put a snorkel on a jeep for looks - I know a lot of guys that have them and only 1 of those guys has come close to using it.

That's what was in my '80 CJ7. I had to be very careful since that fricker ate u-joints. Probably a little to much motor for a Jeep.

Either it sold or the ad expired because I haven't seen it posted for a while

That sucks, if you were interested in it. It was not a hard motor to swap in back when you could damn near buy a 350 in a crate at Auto Zone.
