If he doesn't have much energy, tightlining for trout with power bait on the White or Little Red would always yield a limit. It would be some nice scenery as well.

Anyone ever notice that there is at least one bass in the ice chest in one of the pictures on the homepage?

That's awesome that he wants to spend some of his last time here with you doing that man. Should let you know that that time spent with you fishing are his best memories in life. Prayers for you and all involved. I lost mine 3 years ago

Sorry about your father. I would say Toledo Bend for freshwater.
I'm actually planning a saltwater trip for my dad's 84th birthday in March, he's still in real good shape. He started me fishing when I was young and he got rid of his boat about 10 years when his fishing buds all started dying off or just couldn't handle it.

Damn man, this made me think of my dad. He is still going strong at 80, but hate to think of him not being with me in the boat or blind one day.

Take this fwiw.
If you go to T-Bend the wind/weather can play a huge factor.
Also no real medical services nearby.
Gross Savanne is not going to be hindered by wind. If the weather gets bad you'll be chilling at the lodge in 5 minutes.
Gross Savanne is also close to Lake Chuck just in case

Thanks for all of the support. I just booked a trip this weekend to Toledo bend. I know that I will be very emotional. I don't know how Im going to be able to fish without him there. I will cherish every second. I hope he will too.

man, it makes me smile to think about you having the chance to do this...what I wouldn't do to have the chance for just one more trip with mine.

do whatever you have to do to document this for your memory...any recording of his voice that you can get will be priceless to you in years to come.

Me too man. My pops is getting up there at 78, but still tries to do everything a 50 year old does. His heart doesn't agree with that lifestyle.

I honestly hope the OP catches all the fish in the lake. And if financial help is needed for the guide, give me the PayPal address

Man, my suggestion -- if you can afford it... find the best guide available. Let the guide do all of the work and you focus on spending quality time with your pops.

This is about the best suggestion you can ask for, look up toledo bend fishing guides around Many, La, find one, hire him, buy a camera and go spend time with your dad and not have to worry about not getting on some fish. Prayers to you and your family and a dang good last fishing trip for you a your pops. Good luck my friend

Very sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope you guys wear them out.

Thinking about this and it getting close to when I lost my Dad unexpectedly...I would have loved to go hunting or fishing one last time with my ole man.

Hell, to officiate one more game of HS football together would have rocked.

Tight lines Bux!

Go to Toledo Bend get a guide. LTD is a great service. If he y'all ain't catching bass then they can put you on a brush pile and load up on perch. Man I hope one of y'all catch a 10 pounder. I'll pitch in via pay pal if needed. Goddamn I teared up reading your post. Y'all are in my prayers.
