Forgive my ignorance please... Are you LEO? Other than it being badass and lots of fun, and possibly life saving in extreme scenarios, why would a regular Joe need this kind of training?

But after further inspection, my piston spring had split in about 8 pieces.

Just a guess but it sounds like he did it because he wanted to

More proof the lighter DI AR is the way to go.

Good AAR.

I lie the magpul rolly Polly dump pouch...I think that's the name.

Perhaps try a battle belt? For me it's better than a chest rig.

I have no problem with it at all. Matter of fact I think it sounds like a hoot. I was just wondering if he was security, LEO, or some other profession that may need this kind of training. I'm an OB poor (I don't even own a Yeti)so I couldn't justify spending that kind of jack on entertainment outside of hunting/fishing/familyvacations. If I had a job that required it or maybe was high risk (prosecutor/judge) then maybe I could.

I like shooting shite just as much as the next guy. I don't even wear my pink parasol when I do it. Some of you other guys need to lighten up a little.

Yes to all counts.

hopefully you get your ACR squared away man.

Bushmaster is actually sending me a new piston spring for free. I almost couldn't believe it. It is a different type of spring (flatwound vs. regular) so hopefully that will fix it. We'll see.

Did anybody run a 1911 in the class, if so how did it do? What was the most common pistol and rifle being ran? Did you see any cool or unique firearms being ran in the class? Sorry for all the questions.

No 1911s actually. There were a few standouts - one other M&P9, a Taurus 92, and a CZ. Besides that, Glocks galore.

The most common combination was AR and Glock. Everyone had either an AK or an AR.

I'm not LEO but it was pretty beneficial for general rifle training. I could see it being beneficial for competition shooting as well. It was a whole lot of fun - that's the most important part.

When running the Colt it felt a lot slimmer. There was one AR that went down. And there were two AKs with severe issues. So all in all, besides being super dirty, the DI AR is a proven system.

Feel free to drive a total of 16 hours, spend $500 on the class, shoot 1500 rounds, and then post your own chronological after action report.

Allow me to re-phrase. I expected it to be more like an AAR for a firearms training class. I understand that you did the best you could. There are plenty of examples out there for your next one.

I (truly) think it's great that you went. Very few gun owners actually go to one. So you're to be commended for going.
