I will probably be deer hunting, at least in the morning.

Top three duck hunt I have ever been on was when I guided a couple boys from Shreveport. It would rain then sleet then snow and start all over again. Was beating the shite out of us but the mallards were wanting it bad.

Man I miss Klondike.

I've hunted in some rain before but nothing crazy. Old timers will tell you they killed a bunch of ducks in heavy rain, but who knows. I'm sure the weather will have birds moving but I'd be careful if you're going out in deep water or something like that.

Yeh my scenario was light rain. I would be very hesitant about lightning and heavy thunder storms, especially somewhere out in the Atchafalaya (if that is where you are hunting) if it got bad and required a boat drive. If it was a walk in hunt somewhere or pit blind situation I might feel better, but even then lightning freaks me out.

Should be fine if you're not in open water. Outside of that, avoid the lightning.

Should move in some fresh birds, everywhere I hunt is stale right now.

Made plenty of rainy hunts. Fresh marsh, salt marsh. Light rain, heavy rain, sleet. Didn't matter. Always sucked.

One time me & a buddy hunted his blind the day after they waxed a 3 man limit of grays in about 45 min. A front was coming through the morning of our hunt. We figured it would be at least as good as the day before with the potential for a more mixed bag. Wrong. We literally sat through the front. Didn't fire a shot all morning. Stayed till 10:30.

I’ve never found days like that to be productive, at least in the marsh. It’s also always a pain in the marsh because you have to be mindful of the water level. I always hated getting set up then having to break down and move or leave 45 minutes into a hunt whenever I hadn’t even fired a shot.

I have killed mallards pretty good before in timber before thunderstorms came through. I have done it a couple times. If I see a T-storm rolling in around 9am I’ll go to a couple timber spots.

I'm hunting It beats hunting in 83 degree weather should push some fresh birds down. Stay out big open bays or open water period going to be rough whitecapping!

I could see myself doing something like that, if it was a quick shot back to the truck. If you go be careful. I'd imagine birds are moving now, winds picked up a lot.

I’ve had more good hunts than bad in the rain. I like to hunt a front.

Just depends on the timing of the front passing.

Some of the best hunts of my life I sat through heavy storm during the frontal passage. On the back side when the wind was blowing 25 mph out of the north we killed a lot of ducks.

You don’t usually do great during the tstorms. But in the hours after the frontal passage you can light them up.

I don't think I'll be able to hunt tomorrow, but yall keep us updated on how everyone does tomorrow and Monday. Hope to hear good reports.

ETA: and be safe baws, weather-wise, gun wise, and in general with all the yahoos these days.

I plan to hunt ducks in the morning. But, if it’s lightning, staying in the camp until it stops.
