Switching from single pin back to 3 pin

I'm considering pulling my sliding single pin sight off my bow and putting a 3, 4, or 5 pin back on, preferably 3 pin. Backstory I hunt whitetails, from trees and the ground, never shooting over 35-40 yards.
Hopefully this doesnt end up in a pissing match, just tell me what you shoot and why. Thanks

I switched back to multi pin from a single pin. I never got comfy with single. I had it dialed in at 25 yards to shoot 20-30 without much Kentucky windage, and had my 35 and 45 marks set. I missed a doe at 10 by shooting under her, and then got busted trying to adjust for a 40 yard shot. Took it off immediately after that.

They have a lot of three pin sliders available if u want to still be able to shoot out to 60, 70 etc.

I shot single pin for years. Then went to a 4 pin and didn't like it that much. I ended up with a Garmin Xero. I absolutely love it and can never see myself going back. Having a totally un-obstructed pin has really improved my accuracy.

I have missed more bucks from 10 yards and in than at any other yardage. A few that were Pope and Young contenders.
You have to shoot your 40-50 yd pin if they are inside of ten yards AND you have a steep angle shot (your up in the 25 ft high plus range in the tree)
Your line of sight with your 20 yd pin is 3-4 inches higher than what your arrow will travel at that distance. most faster bows your arrow is traveling on an upward trajectory till around 20 yds, because it is starting out @ 3" below your 20 yd pin.
It is tough to hold your 45 yard pin on a buck 7 steps from your stand (treestand not groundblind) but that is where your arrow is going to hit.
As for sights I have been a firm believer for many years that most folks should stick with a 3-pin, unless your name is Levi Morgan or you hunt out west.
With speeds of 270 fps plus a three pin gives you good separation between the pins in order to clearly see both your needed pin AND the target (deer).
I personally set a 20, a 35 and a 45 on my bow. If a buck is at 30 the 35 on the heart gets either the top of the heart or the lower center of the lung. The 45 pin on a 40 yard deer is held on the heart for a lung hit. Same pin held on lungs on a 50 yd deer gets the arrow into the lower lung/heart area.
Been using it this system for over 25 years and works fantastic...except for when I get a mind fart and screw up the close in shots.
Just my 2 cents

Get a 2 pin spot hog. I love mine.

I’m running a 3 pin slider. Best of both worlds imo. Pins at 15,25,35 and use the bottom pin as a floater. Wish I had switched sooner. Mine is the Black Gold Verdict Ascent. S&S archery is who I got it through, fully customizable.

That’s more like a dollars worth! Very good info in that post, Shaken. But to the original point, having to hold at a higher yardage pin at close range, that’s exactly why I switched back to the 3 pin. At 7 yards it’s pretty tough to adjust your yardage on a single pin without getting busted. I felt way more comfortable once I switched back.

3 pin for me. The sight is just something to hold the pin in place, so I don't buy the super expensive ones. I really don't understand the appeal of anything that moves.

You can’t understand the appeal of a single pin that adjusts for range? I feel like it’s a pretty straightforward concept, even if it’s not your preference.

This ^.
I went from 3 to single, back to 1, back to 3, back 1 for 14 years and just started using 2 pins the last couple of seasons. Love it

I love the single pin when I'm doing a lot of target shooting. But in the woods I want to do less thinking and moving. I have a 3 pin Sword Sabre that is basic as it gets but bulletproof. I'm going back to it this year.

Just switched from a 5 pin fixed to a single adjustable.

I run a 4 pin black gold.. I tried the single pin and it cost me a big axis. I ranged the deer and by the time I drew he had moved so I had to let down and adjust my sight. Tree stand wasn't too bad . I set the single pin at 25 so 10 to 30 yards i didn't have to move it. Really just depends on hunting style..

Deep, man.
OP, I use a three pin but only have two set, because I find sight clutter really distracting. One is set to 20 yards and I find it’s more or less on from 10-25 yards, the second I set to 35 since this is about my max range I feel confident taking a shot at a deer, and it keeps the pins far enough apart that they don’t crowd.
So far it hasn’t been an issue but I’d have a lot of thinking to do if a deer stepped out at exactly 30 yards. If I develop the confidence to shoot live beyond 35, I’ll be moving to a single pin adjustable.

I just switched back. I went from an HHA optimizer lite to a trophy ridge react 4 pin. I like it a lot. I get so excited when a deer comes in i forget to move my sight. Doesn't matter how much I practice.
