Swamp People

I had the distinct pleasure to spend the better part of the day today with Troy Landry, star of the History Channel's show Swamp People.
I admit that I had never seen the show prior to last week and while I found it entertaining, I wasn't necessarily a "fan".
That all changed today when I was able to see Troy interact with several hundred people, one after another at a public appearance. During this event, I was right next to him for several hours and the ENTIRE time, he was completely charming and sincerely interested in meeting everyone. He has a genuine gift of gab, truly enjoys meeting people, and I now know that every kind thing that I have heard or read about him is true. You can bet I'll be tuning in from now on.
Just another example of why Louisiana is such a great place to call home.

Seeing the pics of the line at Simmons waiting to see Troy when he came to town was amazing. I would be willing to bet that Troy could win the governor's race in 2012, if he were to run.

i wouldn't call it store bought...he had the partial done here in lake charles. i know a few people who work at the office who did it. of course, they all took a picture with him when he was in to get it
he was also told by the producers of the show that he can't wear it while they're filming

I would say the crowd was smaller than planned for but it worked out perfectly. No one was turned away and the last autograph was signed at almost the exact scheduled end of the event. Best estimate is 700-800 people attended. Afterwords, Troy said he really enjoys the smaller events because no one gets denied the chance to say hello and he has a lot more time to interact with everyone. Truly a great ambassador for our state.

The wife, kid and I went to see him up here in Eugene a couple of months ago for the opening of a Cabela's.
The place was packed and the lines to see him and Jacob were very long. But you could tell they both had a genuine interest of meeting their fans and taking it all in. It was very nice to see that type of Louisiana sincerity out here!

Glad to see someone who genuinely appreciates the fans. But the show is still terrible.

Glad to hear he this about him. I will be meeting him on thursday at a company party. My son will be decked out in his troy gear. I never would have thought a kid about to turn four would be that into an alligator hunting show. I think I am going to get him to sign a picture I have hanging in my office from my alligator hunting days.

Funny how a scrubby ole dude that would never get a second look by these girls, gets on TV and now everyone wants a picture.

I was in Austin bout a month ago and wore a Purple & Gold Troy, Choot 'em shirt out on 6th street one night. I had at least 8 different people stop me and ask if they could have their picture taken with me. It was crazy. Kinda freaked me out at first. I didn't know why the first girl asked. Of course i hugged up to her and let them take a couple pics. Then I asked her why, and she said she loved Troy. Oh well??? The rest of the night was very fun though!!! Thanks Troy!!!
