I let the wax dry then put it in the container to store it, but now that I think about it if it gets too hot, it will melt

No I mean how are you keeping the wax from mixing with the lint?

Vaseline and cotton balls works just as good too.

Little dabs at a time until I got a base. I haven't broke one open to see if it all melted together though.

Yes, and one cotton ball with Vaseline on it burns for 8 to 10 minutes.

I also remember hearing that buying medicines from a pet store is much cheaper.

Almost everyone forgets about things like a deck of cards for mental escape. A healthy mental state is imperative.

Yep, look into Fish antibiotics.
Fish Mox = Amoxicillin
Fish-Flox = Ciprofloxacin
Fish-cin
Fish-zole
Fish-Flex
Fish-cillin
Also
Bird-sulfa
Bird-biotic
These are your most basic antibiotics that you would need to get you through a major SHTF.
Big Pharm is becoming more aware that folks are catching on to this so you are not seeing the availability of these 'fish meds' as you once did. Its cutting into their huge profits.
Make sure you are very studied up on anti-biotics. I would get a few medical reference books and few on First Aid guides as well.
An excellent website is doomandbloom.net It is chock full of suvival meddical info that is run by an MD and nurse.

I can survive the rest of my life with 10,000 .22 bullets, a gill net, a knife, and fire.

as someone else said, it really depends on what you are preparing for...a night spent lost in the woods or TEOTWAWKI?...if the latter, you not only need the things to keep you alive short term, but very important are things that you can trade and barter with...paper money will be worthless...I would gather up a stock of things that people would consider luxuries to trade (i.e. spices & seasonings, seeds, soap/shampoo, etc.)...in ancient times, those who had spices literally ruled the world, and there is a good reason for that....
one thing that I haven't seen mentioned here regardless of the situation is insect repellent..we live in the south and only under the best of situations would it not be imperative...

very good point...I think in teotwawki situation, the knowledge of how to produce spirits would probably be a hell of a valuable skill...you could basically make drink and fuel, both of which would be absolutely rare...learn to make hooch and you could rule the damn world!...
