Suppressor owners, what’s your muzzle device preference for attaching your suppressor?

Direct Thread or Quick Disconnect?

I’ve got an Aero Precision Lahar-30 in jail right now, but since I just got my Form-1 back for my SBR, I want to go ahead and get the proper muzzle device.

r/NFA has lead me to believe that a muzzle brake will “prolong” the life of the suppressor because the break acts like “sacrificial baffles”. However, it’s only noticeable if you shoot a lot.

But anyway, I’m kind of down to these 3 options:

Mostly everyone in the r/NFA subreddit seem to love Rearden and Q. Dead Air Keymo seems to suck based on reviews. SilencerCo seems to be decent.

What are y’all running?

Direct thread is the best option for the majority of people. It is lighter, adds the least length, costs less, super repeatable, and avoids tolerance stacking. Muzzle devices should only be used if you have a very specific need for it or if it influences the performance of the silencer (for example, Huxwrx silencers need their muzzle device for the silencer to work properly). All this to say, if you are sure you want muzzle devices, go with rearden or liberty precision machine (LPM makes amazing silencers too btw). These both use the Q thread pattern but the devices have wrench flats which is a huge oversight on Qs part for never adding. It is an absolute necessity.

I use the sico trifecta for quick detach. I haven't had issues with it that others have had.

Also, I use the area419 hellfire mounts for my bolt gun.

I use direct thread and have never seen a reason to change.

If ur not changing the suppressor between multiple rifles then not necessary i would say. I have the sico asr & deadair keymo & prefer the kemo fwiw.

If I take a muzzle device from one manufacturer that screws into a mount from another manufacturer, which screws into a silencer from another manufacturer, these items are built to different tolerances. They may or may not align well or work properly.

As others have stated, direct thread. I have no practical purpose for a quick connect suppressor attachment unless I am wanting to switch quicker from gun to gun on my range. Not worth the extra money for that.

I can unscrew the suppressor from one weapon and put it on another in less than 30 seconds. That’s at normal speed. Probably faster if I really wanted to.

When I first picked up my suppressor I was toying with it on several different firearms. I purchased three of the Silencer Co breaks but at the end of the day the can lives direct threaded to SBR 300blk.

I'm not disappointed in the breaks at all. They're convenient and seem to do a decent job without the suppressor.

I've used the ASR mount, it was ok. Also changed over to the Keymo, wasn't a huge fan. I've decided to convert anything I would use on my bolt guns over to the Area 419 system. Standard threads so can use it on multiple brands, take the can off and attach a brake in seconds if wanted, adds very little length if any and extremely lightweight.

Have several and very pleased. I have 2 Omegas and 4 Rearden muzzle devices on AR’s. Easy take on and off. Best muzzle mounting system out there IMO.

Are you talking about the cherry bomb? A socket fits on the end.

Can you change a suppressor from needing a keymo to direct thread?

You can carbon lock a cherry bomb into a mount. Without wrench flats, it is a pain to get out. Cherry bomb is also a terrible as a muzzle device.
