I think huskies run at higher rpms, which can lead to frick ups.
Don't know if they still do, but they definitely did when I was cutting trees. They made more hp per cc, but a Stihl makes more torque, which is what actually counts.

I know of 3 stihls older than me that have never missed a beat. (I'm 22)

I'm 37 and my dad has a stihl that is as old or older than me, can't remember. Was running up til last year because he let it sit up to long without running it. Needs some parts that are near impossible to get because it is so old. But if they can find them they told him it would be up and running again.

Will have to ask him this weekend. Let him borrow my 260 pro about two months. Starting to wonder if I will ever see it again

What part? Stihl has used basically the same stuff for a long time. A carburetor off of a 360 will work for an 036. There are 100s of companies that make parts for them

I'm not sure. He was bitching about it a few weeks ago. Brought it over to ike's fix it and they had it for about a month and could never get it running and said it needs some parts they can't get. Last he told me was bringing it to hutchs to let them see what they can do. Starting to think he never did since he still has mine.

It is a smaller one though. Think it has a 16" bar on it.

I will get all the info on it this weekend and maybe some of y'all could help him out and get that antique running again. Think he loves that saw more than my mom

Stihl is going through some hefty restructuring as far as parts are concerned. I'm finding it tough to get parts for the old 028s and what not. If you CAN get them they're usually priced so high that it's more cost effective to but a new saw.

The 250, 390, 310, and a couple others are still easy to deal with though. Those are the saws they haven't screwed with much. Hell the 250/025 has been the basically the same saw for 20 years. That'll be changing soon though so if anyone is in need of a good mid-range saw then I recommend getting a 250 while you still can.

Also, how many Husqvarna saws do you see that are >10yrs old still running?

The OLD ranchers hold up just as well as any other saw. Getting parts is a problem with husky saws though.

Old Poulans are tough to beat. They owned shite in the early 90s. We still have a good many come in but again, parts are a problem. They're heavy as shite but they hold up amazingly.

They say the HD and Lowes saws are not the same grade saws.. Kind of like the john Deere line at the big box stores.

They are the same grade. You can get a John Deere 110 at HD/Lowes or a locally owned shop, same price and all. The only difference is that you get Jerome assembling it there vs. someone that knows what they're doing at a dealer. A 110 is a 110. You can't get the higher end stuff at a big box store though.

I know a guy who makes a living off two pro grade huskies. One of them is 6 or 7 years old and still runs great. They are well made.

They don't sound as sweet as mine though

6 or 7 years old is the key. My buddy still runs an 088 that is like 40yrs old cutting sunken trees that he pulls

I have also found that they get finicky about starting after the first 2 or 3 years of use. My Stihls still cranked 2nd or 3rd pull every time.

You gonna make a YouTube video so we can see your non-skills handling a big boy saw? Make sure you don't turn your phone sideways so we get to watch a tiny pictured video

Pretty satisfied with this rig. It's no 440 but it doesn't mind the 25" bar one bit.

Took it easy for the first 3 tanks and was kinda meh about it but I started opening it up and it's getting noticeably stronger as I run it.

It's leaking bar oil around the adjustment screw though so it'll have to go back. Not having any of this leaky shite on my brand new 600 dollar rig.
