What is the approximate cost of installing a stand by generator in the BR area. I am just starting to think about having one installed due to elderly parent/in laws.

Is that the labor to install, and $100 a day to save my elderly parents from heat stroke doesn't seem to a bad deal.

$10K total is on the lower side but should get you in the ballpark. The labor is roughly the cost of the generator if done by a reputable company.

It's all about convenience and sometimes you can't put a cost on that.

I agree, my Sil had someone give her an estimate of $20K installed. 2200 - 2400 sq ft house, I told her that they saw a single woman and were going to make their month. Do you know any reputable installers.

There was a lengthy thread on this, on this board if I recall correctly, last week... about Monday I think.

We have a 20kW that was installed in 2012; it was around $10,000 installed. I've never noticed a huge increase in the Entergy bill. During tropical storm Barry, our power was out almost all day on one of the days, and intermittent on others. The total charge for natural gas during that time was $30.87. And, the A/C ran as usual.

Paid $9200 for mine installed two years ago. 22kw air cooled generac for 2600 SF house. Woulda been a little cheaper if gas and power were on same side of house.

Air cooled would figure 8-12k range. Liquid cooled which some HOA’s actually require now as their significantly quieter can push $20k in a hurry.

I had a 22kw generac installed with new gas line and transfer switch a year and a half ago for 7500. The longest its ran is 12 hours and it bumped my gas bill 30 bucks

22kw generac liquid cooled on propane cost was around 12k and costs about 42 dollars a day to run. It has changed the way we feel about our security. Hurricane in the gulf means get alittle rice and meat to cook, no scrambling around for fuel or hooking up a generator for a test. Also the many 1 to 3 hr outages dont affect our day at all.

Just got one installed about 3 weeks ago. I built my house last year and had the transfer switch, bigger gas line, and the high pressure regulator installed during the build. The generator by itself
With install of it was 5600. I’d say I have about 8k tied up into it. (22 kw Generac)

I put one in about 11 years ago a 22kw liquid cooled and it's been worth it's weight in gold over the years living at the end of a power run in Folsom.

Over here Pan American Power is who we used and still use for yearly maintenance. I would suspect they would go to baton rouge if you were interested and can't find someone you trust that way.

I don’t know who put nine in, it came with the house.

I got rid of the service guy that had the contract when I bought it and have been using valentine mechanical. They were much better on service and I have been really happy with them.

They also do installs and their service pricing was much more reasonable.
