Always end up with wasted spools of braid and want to splice some on my spinning reels. Any Baws tried with success? At what it costs I’m trying to use it all up instead of throwing it in the garbage.

Lawry's seasoned salt is pretty good stuff; try it.

I spool all my reels with about half mono and half braid, obviously spliced together. If you think about how much of your line is typically in the water, especially fresh water fishing, it's just not that much. I wouldn't want a splice that was running through the guides while casting or retrieving, but beyond that I'd do it if I felt like it. Braid to braid I'd probably hit it with a bit of super glue to be safe.

YouTube Link this is how I do it.

On my spinning reels I put about 1/4 capacity of 20lb mono and top shot it with 30lb braid.

Some customers can f up a wet dream, can easily lose half a spool in one trip. I don’t want to have a bass Arsenal onboard for replacements.

thought about doing the same thing. I watched some YouTube videos and they recommended the Blood knot and the modified Double Uni knot.

I have before using a doubled uni to uni.

You just need to really trim the tag ends very short.

I spend hundred probably thousands on getting all my reels set up with hollow braid and spliced 100-200ft of mono too shot with the knottless whipping a knot or what ever...

I have now moved away from that it's to much work and it costs more.

Now I use 16strand braid for all my reels and use a FG knot for initially before I head out then just a blood knot if I need to fix it fast.
Edit: need up my braid to to shut numbers
Avet
Hxw-100braid 80lb too shot
LX-60lb braid 50lb top shot
Mxl-40lb braid 30lb too shot
Sx-30lb braid and what ever size I feel like 20-40lb top shot

Spinfisher
6500- 80lb braid 60lb top shot
4500- 30lb braid 20lb topshot

All my other spinner setups are 10-15lb braid with 20-30lb topshot for tying knots

hollow braid splice
This is how I learned and how I do it when I do hollow braid. I still have tons of it around the house but in not as big of a fan anyone after using it for years it's kinda a pia on the water and by pia I mean I can't do it on the water

fg knot
Supposed to be super easy but i I grew up with the blood knot and can tie that in the dark with numb finger and hammered drunk so after I break off that's what I use for rest of day or switch poles till I have jacked up all my light tackle lmfao

That's a loop knot, you use that to splice line?

What do yall use for a leader thats going to have to pass through the rod guides? My uni knots for braid to flouro always end up too fat to go smoothly.

I have braid on almost all of my reels and I splice new braid in every year when it gets low. Alberto knot is my go to. Even with my fluro leader, the alberto knot is the smoothest one i have found so far.

uni to uni or FG knot, I think this one is easier on the boat.

Brush a litte "Zap a Gap" on the outside and it helps prevent catching when the knot passes through the guides. Also helps longevity of braid to leader knot.

Any loop is bad for braid to mono or fluoro. May be ok for braid to braid.

I use FG or crazy alberto if it has to go through eyes. Uni to uni any other time, but you have to be careful of the upper tag end when splicing line. You really have to cover that knot a good bit, or you'll catch that tag on the cast.

Honestly have never used glue on leader joints but am going to buy some today and try. Most of the time i am too busy to stop long enough to use it.
Does the tip get clogged up like most super glues?

Zap-A-Gap is a thinner product that I use for fly tying. They come in different thickness. Some have brush applicators and some have a squeeze tip.

I wouldn't use a Guerilla Glue or anything like that.
