Have leases in des allemands and in bayou black - killed about 10 mallards in des allemands this year - outside of that, it’s been all ringnecks and bwt - I’m not complaining - I like ringers !

Bouncing from one end to another. Been some slow days but overall it’s been really good

Almost lost my lower unit this weekend. The last two weeks have been brutal. Just have to paddle further and be mindful of where you leave the boat.

I hunt multiple areas in SELA both public and private. My earlier statement about birds being stale and ganged up applies to the whole area. I do not hunt in blinds so I can hunt where the birds want to be, and I’ve basically been digging myself a hole in the mud with my feet the last two weeks to hide. It hasn’t been easy by any means, especially with hardly any water anywhere, but we’ve still been killing ducks. They’re here. They’re just harder to kill than normal.

I'll share one of my se public land hunts last week. Started off hunting a pond where we had seen birds earlier in the week. By 9 we had killed 2 mergansers and a spoonie. Decided to make a move so we rode around looking for a different spot. Scared up about 50 greys and 25 teal out of a completely landlocked pond. Decided to park the boat and walk .5 miles through the mud and marsh dragging decoys guns and everything to the pothole. Set up and hunted till 1 and did not shoot a single duck. Thats why its called hunting. But that was one long arse walk back to the boat...

What is considered plenty? My group is around the 170 mark not including teal season. The past three seasons we were over 250 at this time.

No reason for large amounts of big ducks to fly to SELA. No food supply. They can stay well north of Baton Rouge area all the way thru the Midwest in grain fields that are full of food sources. There is just no draw in SELA to hold ducks.

We are at 4.43 So pretty close. We are usually between 5 and 5.5.

We tried to hunt the Biloxi Marsh WMA saturday, but there was hardly any water so the two areas I've been hunting so far this year weren't huntable.
makes me feel better.

Season has been terrible in Salavador WMA. My group is at a 9.4 birds/hunt average (3-4 hunters). Typically we are around 20. Just no feed, and very little ducks. Mostly ringnecks and a few teal.

Didn't you learn your lesson about lying about killing ducks on this board? Shall I bring up an old thread?

Sounds about right.
I heard about some young guy sticking a bayboat somewhere up north on the WMA a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly, I was told he spent the night out there. Lower St. Bernard is dangerous when the water is like it has been. Thankfully this E/SE wind pushed a bunch of water back up in the marsh yesterday/today. We'll see if it stays for a bit.
eta: I believe I saw another poster on here post a photo of a bayboat stuck/swamped in Venice as well.

Here are our numbers, we pretty much make the same amount of hunts every year (all weekends and some weekdays during Christmas Holidays) with the same amount of hunters. 2016 was alarming but the last 2 seasons are downright scary.
Year Total Big Ducks(Mallards,Gadwall,Widgeon,Pintail)
2011 353 139
2012 625 353
2013 444 166
2014 410 82
2015 579 245
2016 289 155
2017 192 44
2018 156 5

We were out pushing my bay boat in Biloxi for an hour or so two weekends ago. Didn't know the deeper ways to get to the mid-north part of the wma and paid the price. We stopped hunting Venice because of low water before Christmas.

I just saw your posts on the first page. I think that you should just go hunt the ducks instead of complaining about there being no ducks on a message board and asking for peoples' hunting locations.

If someone wants them bad enough, there’s ducks to be killed. I’m not mad enough at them at the moment to pirogue across some of the existing mud flats.
