I've been in the outdoors as long as I can remember and am just now letting a few snakes I see in the woods live.
Call me whatever you want but I couldn't sleep knowing I turned one loose outside that had been successful getting inside before. I'd rather create a moat of rat traps around my camp than know a snake could be inside.

We happened into the attic of our camp in the middle of December and found 3 of the same hibernating up between the rafters. . They were the biggest, fattest Rat Snakes ever known to man. We figured there was never a better place than a camp for free rodent control. They're still up there as far as I know and we might should go check on them just to see if it's worth calling the folks at Guinness.

when I was a kid we hunted out of an old bread delivery truck converted to a camp, that thing was nasty. We shared it with a huge rat snake that liked to drop down on you from the ceiling in the middle of the night
only took once for me and I slept in a tent after that

We should have an OBGTG/Throwdown pro-snake vs anti-snake.
Pro-snake'ers would initially come out strong after they pulled green tree snakes out of their back pockets and scare the anti's senseless. But then the pro's and their snakes would get shot up like swiss cheese since the anti's couldn't tell the difference between a green snake and a god damn king cobra.

you'll never have a better neighbor or boarder than a big rat or king snake. I'm not gonna tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do but they are completely harmless and do good work
and it is irresponsible not to know how to tell them apart from the three species of venomous snake found in the south. that snake on the wall would have let you pick it up and take it outside

I was at the lake last weekend and saw a snake swimming across the cove. Went and looked it up and spent probably an hour looking up pictures. Still don't know what it is.

Took me years of walking through the brush up here to convince me there were no snakes. Dealt with too many down South. I hate a snake. Any snake.

Same here. I understand completely that some are harmless, but mebtally, I can't tolerate them.
