HIDE YA KIDS

Please try to not chop in half, shoot to the face or otherwise kill this particularly harmless GDCK.

They eat gophers, and I hate gophers. Although a pocket gopher does sound kinda intriguing. I may have run into a Monroe girl or two with one.

Three male Louisiana pine snakes were released this week in the Catahoula Ranger District, joining 27 that were released over the past two years in the forest. They were set free in part of the longleaf pine forest where biologists knew there were plenty of pocket gophers -- the snake's most frequent food and the animal whose burrows it lives in.

They have those at the zoo here in Memphis. I want to say that the zoo is part of the restocking program.

If I was forced to guess, I would have to think target practice.

When they become self aware and take over they'll regret this.

Because if they introduce endangered species, it then justifies their intention to eliminate all uses of the national forest land except for tree hugging.

I have seen a few in Jackson Parish and one around Teneha , TX. This was back in the late 70's. Pretty big snakes and aggressive but not so much as a Coachwhip which shares similar habitat. I haven't seen one of those since the mid 70's. Seems like they've gone the way of the Bobwhite.

Thanks to the OB I am getting better at identification and will be much less likely to kill them.

Kill it with fire? Not so fast.

Not hard to see why they're endangered, they're defense is to look like a rattler.

False

I Turkey hunt nearly every day of the season and only have disdain for Canebrakes or Cottonmouths.
