Timber rattler? At my deer camp in arky. First one I have seen here. Glad I saw it before my dog did.

That's what freaks me out. We bring my idiot retriever to a camp south of Belle Chasse just about weekly. If he saw a buzz worm, he'd try to charge it like a bull. He finally learned to leave the cats alone...

Definitely a canebrake/timber RS. They are pretty docile and usually will only attack when you piss them off.

AR 15 varmit rounds. Blew head off to be sure. Scared the shite outta me this morning. Grabbed my dog and locked her inside. Snake had moved about 5 feet into woods by the time I came back.

So instead of a docile harmless canebrake rattler that would not have hurt your dog, you would rather have an infestation of dog eating rats? Because that's what you're about to have.

Lonestar Law tells me these are protected here in Texas. Don’t care I’d have shot it too if it was close enough to me.
