Already doing that.

And it'll likely be in the works for 10 more. I just don't see the state dealing with it.

Huh? That was Andrew, keeping the Brits from sneaking around the backside on New Orleans.

They keep talking about freshwater diversions to help that swamp out, but it hasn't happened. A big influx of fresh water would probably help the ducks.

Maurepas hasn't had ducks since 03. But if the salvania dies it would be on. Too bad every yuppie from Metairie would be there. Just like hotwater

some of the best hunts of my life were in 01 and 02, after the swamp burned one late summer

2000 was my best year. No matter where we went we shot birds. Prairie = widgeon

i'm only 29 and had a camp on blind river growing up, my buddies' dads used to tell us stories of the massive amounts of ducks they shot around the area in the 70's and 80's...we saw pictures but never really realized how good it was i guess until a piece of swamp burned over the summer near garyville. That season we went back there and hunted amongst the charred stumps, clean water and indigo that was growing, the sky would get black with ducks some days...absolutely unreal. My podnas dads made some hunts with us and pretty much said it was the most he'd seen since his time, but it still wasn't close, i couldn't even imagine

eta: only shot one wigeon in those years, but absolutely slayed the grays and mallards

How is the hunting on section of the WMA north of Lake Maurepas? Are there any decent hunting spots on Manchac or Joyce WMAs?

I used to hunt Maurepas for ducks in late 80s early 90s with my stepdad, truly remarkable the amount of ducks that used to be there. Hunted out of Big Casino which is now part of WMA. More ducks than mosquitoes back then LOL Stick to the deer and catfish now...

Isn't this new land addition where the Panama Hunting Club is/was located? Boyce Tower Road I think??? Just wondering...

Thought that was his nickname, my bad it was certainly Andrew Jackson, nicknamed old hickory.

Had a long day.

Yep. Panama's land that they used to hunt. Think they have the rest of the year then they lose it.

I hope not, it sure sucked when we lost our lease and camp. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. Was just trying to get my bearings of location that's why I used Panama as a reference.
