What is the OB's opinion of Sitka Gear. I am looking to buy some and can't decide between the Stratus and Fanatic for bow hunting North Louisiana (public land) where I walk at least a 1/2 mile to hunt. Will do some out of state hunting (Kansas, Illinois, etc...) as well.

I know it's expensive but is it worth it?

Since I'm poor, I only own the face mask and the gloves. They're awesome. Fingers did get a little cold this week when I took my hands out of my pockets but it was manageable.

If you hunt a lot, then absolutely.

It's good stuff, but if you use it, you're required to add #sitkagear to every picture you post

Some ugly and expensive camo IMO, but supposedly it's great quality.

I also hunt North Louisiana and sprung for the stratus pants and jacket. Pair that with merino wool base layers. I am very happy with it. The stratus has windstopper and is very warm and versatile without being bulky.

I bought it mainly for my Iowa trip back in December but ended up using it anytime it was lower than 50 or so here.

Very well made and I think it was worth it.

If you do not regularly hunt in the 30's or lower, I'd go Stratus over Fanatic. Get the Fanatic vest if you must for colder days.

I hunt with the stratus system (jacket, pants, beanie, gloves) and it is outstanding gear. I am able to layer under it and stay very warm. You could wear a regular hunting shirt and jeans under it and be fine down to about freezing temps. Any lower and I would recommend the fanatic line, since it is technically the flagship tree stand hunting setup from Sitka and it will keep you warmer.

I took the Status to North Dakota this year and wore it in temps from 40s to 4 degrees with a 25 mph wind. I did layer with fleece and a puffy jacket underneath for the bitter cold, and it damn sure worked. The stratus line has Windstopper which is 90% of staying warm in western style on-the-move hunting.

I think the fanatic line might be too warm for anything other than tree stand hunting, especially if you are hiking in any distance or carrying a climber on your back. If you were in Kansas or Illinois then I would say Fanatic hands down because it is warmer and you are much more likely to see snow/wind. If the majority of your hunting is Louisiana with an occasional trip out of state then go with the Stratus and throw some fleece layers underneath. It is athletically cut, so just bear that in mind and order up a size if you plan on layering much.

People will give you crap for wearing it, but you won't go back to other hunting clothes after trying it. It is quality gear and I would not have been able to hunt in nodak this year without it, at least for several of the days.

I have the fanatic jacket and bibs. Love em. I do hunt Oklahoma quite a bit and it get pretty cold and the wind is always blowing.

A lot of folks think it’s too warm for hunting around here, but I disagree. I just strap them on my climber or pack and carry them in. Stay cool for the walk and warm once you’re in the stand.

Sitka gets a lot of hate on here for some reason but it really is great stuff. If you are patient you can find some good sales on it.
I have a pair of the moss colored timberline pants that are super comfortable. After hunting season I like to take wildlife pictures and these pants have reinforced knees and seat that also have a goretex lining in these areas. It even has removable knee pads that work great for sneaking up on duck holes and taking pictures.

shite product and you won’t kill anything wearing it. You wear waders too? Don’t you know real hunters just duct tape garbage bags under their jeans and throw on a 50 year old green hoody??

J/k: I have tons of Sitka and love it. Genuinely surprised at the lack of posts in this thread resembling what I posted above though

I love their stuff. The delta wading jacket may be the best piece of hunting attire i own.

Its a good product but not exponentially greater than any other product as the price would suggest. I have 3 pieces (caught on sale by accident and took advantage)) but will not buy anymore at the current price points. Lots of companies that are just as good if not better with significantly less cost.
