Bought an 8 week old lab, the dog is acting lethargic, is grinding its teeth, and has pink splotches on its paws. Taking it to vet in morning but wondering if anyone has experience with this.

Pic of the paws? Having a hard time picturing what you mean.

That said, definitely a good call to take to the vet. How long have you had the pup? What's the breeder say?

Sounds like inflammation, may be a food allergy. Don't know, but what I do know is that retail dog food is junk. And veterinarians were of no help to us.

Junk or not junk, our dog has a reaction to chicken in food. It took a few months of eliminating foods to figure it out.

Try Honest Kitchen, human grade dehydrated pet food, fish or turkey. We supplement with fresh, raw vegetables. It depends on the dog. Try a few things. Also supplement with a bit of yogurt.

Vet said it is likely a combination of food allergies and anxiety. Pink paw and teeth is likely the food, and the lethargy is due to anxiety. Only had the dog for 5 days.

Not to dis your vet but...

Lethargy in a baby puppy is not a good thing, and is almost certainly not due to food allergies. Did he/she run any tests? Is this your first time bringing the pup to the vet or did you do a well-puppy visit right after you got him?

Teeth grinding points to pain/discomfort. Did you continue feeding what the breeder was feeding the pup? Again, what does the breeder say? Tell me you got this dog from a reputable breeder and not from a WalMart parking lot...

We picked her up at Canton Trade Days on the 7th, breeder wont answer my call. He said both parents were good duck dogs and he cut me a deal on the pup. This is first time to take her to a vet, we have been feeding her iams puppy food, not sure what the breeder was feeding. She seems to be getting better tho.

That’s at least going to be part of your problem right there. A sudden switch of food without any sort of transition will mess any dog up. They should have given you the name of the food at least.

You can try and cook up some chicken breast and mix with some rice to help.

I wouldn’t go with Iams but that’s just me. I can’t recommend Canidae All Life Stages Multi-Protein enough. It was a life saver for my pup who has some kind of food allergy and struggled with skin yeast for the longest time.
