Yeah and the scary part is we are following them down that hole the same way they did it. I think Argentina is probably a model for what would happen here only here it would be much worse.

So I don't need to prep for solar flares wiping us out this November?

That makes a million times more sense than the apocalypse scenario.
This is essentially what is going on in Greece, Portugal etc. right now. The media talks about the crash/default etc etc as if it's a specific fall off a cliff, but a long slide down a mountain can be just as permanent and just as deadly.

Know a guy who moved down there in the late 90's because he thought it was a bunch of European ex pats down there, civilized and functioning. Came back less than a year later.

I just read that whole damn article and I'm up far too late because of it. Holy shite that is long, but I highly recommend reading it. If nothing else, it is very humbling.

There's one similar to that written by someone who survived the breakup of Yugoslavia. I'll link it if I ever find it again.
His main takeaway is that you'd better link up with a group, the larger the better, and preferably with whom you have blood ties. No matter how badass you are or how heavily armed you are, there's always somebody who's more of a badass and wants your stuff. And you have to sleep sometime.
Edit: here it is. When I saw it, it was a long post on a message board. This guy has since turned it into a blog and a course. He wants to make a buck, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess. Still, his story is pretty interesting LINK

The Yugo thing is yet another scenario...all out war. And in there case, they had to deal not only with complete war, but with all the bandits, thieves, disease, apocalyptic bullshite too.

No, I'm with you.
Good read.

A lot of other countries don't give a shite about Argentina. Im with most of y'all that ours will be much worse. When we take a dive we will be vulnerable and there are way too many other countries that hate us and will use that as an opportunity. That could get ugly fast.

Bump. Just started scanning the link. Somebody had mentioned in an earlier post about comments made about SHTF driving and this article appeard on the Drudge Report.

Yeah. frick that. I don't stop for NOBODY any more. I had a guy try to drive off once with my winch cable still attached to his car. Drunk frick. Pulled right out into traffic, almost dragging me into it with him.
And don't put it past these robber types to use women and kids to get you to stop either.
I think it needs to be discussed/stated again... that there is a lot of talk about SHTF like it will be like it was in the days after Katrina, and it could be. With people trapped, dieing, no water, etc.
But it could just mean your town starts looking like the worst part of Detroit. You might be going to work like you always do, even though your money buys less, and even though there's rampant crime and violence.

If anybody has ever read "The Voice of Freedom" it's not too far off from what I could imagine happening in the coming years. Though, the Korea aspect is a little hard to believe, especially with their latest failed missle launch. I keep coming back to the old joke that "Have you ever had anything made in Korea that worked right?"
