Should I buy a cz shadow 2 if I'm trying to improve as a shooter?

Only ever owned a glock 19 before but sold it awhile back. It's only 900 so I'm tempted to buy it for the price alone, but I know it's really a competition gun

ETA: I'm not trying to buy it TO make me a better shooter, but wondering if it being such an easy(?) gun to shoot will impede my progress

You should've kept the Glock and spent the $900 on ammo.

You have to shoot more to get better. No gun will make you a better shooter if you can't outshoot a Glock.

That said, nothing wrong with buying the CZ if you want if and will enjoy shooting it.

It’s very likely it’s the shooter and not the gun. Go shoot more.

However, if you need an excuse to buy another gun, of course you should buy the CZ! It’s a sweet pistol. Just don’t expect to start shootings clover leaves in targets because you bought it.

One thing to try to improve your shooting skill is a spring piston air gun. RWS makes that type of a pistol.

On such a gun, you must hold aim through a brief delay after the trigger is pulled before the pellet leaves the barrel. It also has a pretty good kick. Getting used to that mechanism can help accuracy with a firearm. The bonus is that it is cheap to shoot.

That said, by all means, shoot more and buy another gun if you want one.

Agreed on this, but you also need to learn to shoot the correct way. Shooting more with the wrong fundamentals will not make you a better shooter. Take a class. Learn the basics like grip, sight picture, and trigger control. Maybe even watch some youtube videos from reputable guys.

The shadow 2 is an excellent gun for the money. I've been looking at getting one myself.

One small thing that will help also is to dry fire. ALOT.

Dry firing the weapon will help with trigger controll.

I suppose I made the assumption that anyone who is looking at a competition gun knows how to grip, aim, and fire a weapon.

All of this is 100% spot-on.

Glock 19's are pretty user friendly.

Buying a new bass boat rarely makes the owner a better fisherman - except if it induces him to fish more.

Everybody benefits from dry firing. Not sure if CZ has issues with this or not.
