Can I not ship a gun to a family member?

I know about FFL dealers when it comes to selling guns and stuff but what if I am not selling a gun but yet just shipping one to my dad?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Different state or same state? I think you can ship it to yourself, but not to someone else when they are in a different state...

so, address it to yourself and send it to dad's address, and tell him NOT to open it till you get there?

UPS only though. And you have to either bring it to a customer service center to drop it off or schedule a pick up. Most "UPS Stores" will not accept it...I'm told because it has something to do with the insurance they take out as a franchise.

I shipped a gun to an outfitter a few years ago for a hunt because the airline refused to allow guns. I mailed it UPS but didnt reveal the contents to the person at the counter. No problem, just pack in a sturdy box.

Don't feel like rolling the dice for $1k because if that is lost and then you have to file a claim with them....as soon as they find out its a gun...you are SOL and I'm afraid that there could be some legal problems arise too.

Just want to do it the right way but I'm getting different I of where I go.

I've often wondered about shipping in three different components? Barrel in one box, action in another, stock in a third?

That could work, right?

StinkDog. Where do you get those stickers?

I have a butt-load of ammo in Texas that I want to send up to my place in Alaska.

Most ammo dealers will not ship to Alaska, and those that do, charge an arm and a leg.

People ship guns back to the manufacturer for repair all the time. Don't sweat this...

I print mine off with a label maker.

Just needs to be a solid color background with a different color font and box.

Google image search ORM-D and you will see it.

Do the pick up with the driver.

Powpow couldn't get the store to accept it, so he stopped the driver and asked. Guy said yeah, pretty much every day he delivers a gun. said to pack it up and label it ill pick it up in a few days.

He didnt want to fly to Kansas with his shotgun, easier to mail it.
