Shad lake/Dewey Wills

Can any of y'all help give me an idea how the water levels work in shad lake/Dewey Wills?
I hunted it often last year, but not until later in the season when it was relatively deep. It's safe to say that when we went there to scout before teal season we were shocked at how shallow it was.

If we get a lot of rain it will be deep
If not, it will be shallower
Thats how it works

Dewey W. Wills/Saline-Larto Complex has nothing to do with the Catahoula Lake court ruling. The water is held in the Saline-Larto complex by weirs connected to the diversion canal. They are drawing it down this year to combat grass & salvania, but it normally is a pretty consistent level until the rivers get high. It isn't normally low, except the couple years that the weirs blew out, but that's fixed now.

Anyone know how low it is now?

Ah that makes sense. I thought someone had told me that the water levels were related, but I might have misunderstood what they were getting at.
And I hadn't seen that but glad they are, the salvinia was pretty thick in spots last year

I haven't been there since the first day of teal season, but it was crazy low. The main lake area was almost impossible to navigate between the shallow water and stumps

How was the salvania? The draw down kill it off?

Sounds like a great kayak opportunity.

hunted Saline last weekend for squirrels. It's very low. Woodson's was barricaded. We were able to launch at Cross Bayou, but stumps out the water like crazy.

Was on Larto this weekend. The water is real low but you can launch at the store or uncle bud's

No ducks there. Go to Catahoula. On a serious note, the water is very low now. Gates not scheduled to close until Nov. 2nd. First split looks like a bust now. We will need about 4 inches plus to get back to pool stage. No water in woods equals burnt out quickly.

Report I got yesterday was " lockjaw". A few bass biting.

That's unfortunate. Looks like I'll be making the longer drive to Yancy or somewhere further north for the first split
