I was going to ask about the water levels but looks like arczr2 confirmed my suspicion. I live in Leesville so not exactly a quick drive to check and was concerned because with the river levels it seemed to me that the would water be non-existent but wasn't for sure...

That's unfortunate. Looks like I'll be making the longer drive to Yancy or somewhere further north for the first split...

I haven't been there since the first day of teal season, but it was crazy low. The main lake area was almost impossible to navigate between the shallow water and stumps...

Ah that makes sense. I thought someone had told me that the water levels were related, but I might have misunderstood what they were getting at. And I hadn't seen that but glad they are, the salvinia was pretty thick in spots last year ...

Shad lake/Dewey Wills

Can any of y'all help give me an idea how the water levels work in shad lake/Dewey Wills? I hunted it often last year, but not until later in the season when it was relatively deep. It's safe to say that when we went there to scout before teal season we were shocked at how shallow it was. ...
Pelican makes some awesome flashlights that are super bright and well built. The 7610 is around $70 and worth every penny...
Currently sitting at the Boyce LDWF leased field, seen a few flying so far but we'll see how it ends up...

Specklebelly goose guide

A buddy and I are wanting to do a hunt for some specks this year and could use some advise. We live in Leesville and are from out of state, but willing to travel really anywhere. From what I have seen on Facebook groups and forums in the last year it seems that Gueydan might be the place to go, but ...

Appreciate it. Are you talking the one with the old dilapidated dock at the mouth? In the 1 other time I tried to fish west cove I thought that was private so I avoided it...

Sabine NWR

Planning to go down to Sabine NWR Sunday and try to get after some redfish/trout. I'm relatively familiar with the area from duck hunting it some this past year, but as an Ohio transplant looking to see if anyone has any helpful tips and tricks...

I just bought one about 3 weeks ago and so far it's awesome. Cooked on it a bunch and it's super easy, might not get the same smoke level as you would from stick burner but it still makes some amazing pork butts and ribs. Plus if you spring for one of the one with a WiFi PID just being able to mo...

I'm originally from Ohio and didn't really thinking about it early enough in the season down here this year. From the little bit I read online I was gonna try looking for some chanterelles and oyster mushrooms, but never had any experience with them before...

Mushroom hunting

I'm not from the area originally (Fort Polk area) and curious if anyone around here does much mushroom hunting? I know better than to ask for spots, but am curious what kind y'all do find around here and any tips to help find some. ...

Sod in the Fort Polk/Leesville area

Posted by Jdawson2012 on 4/25/20 at 12:44 pm
Any recommendations on where to buy sod around Fort Polk/Leesville? Really want to have a decent yard this summer but don't want to pay the $500 for a pallet from Lowe's since I'll only be in this house another year or so. It's about 450sq ft so I should be good with 1 pallet so pick up is an op...
