I am in the market for a new burner. I have a Home Depot gift card so I have been looking at their website, but there are so many that look the same with similar features. Sometimes I will use an 82-qt pot for big family get togethers but mostly will use just your standard 44-qt boil pot and fish fryer pan. My old burner would take forever to heat up the 82-qt pot and even then wouldn’t get it boiling like I’d want it to be. I honestly couldn’t tell you the BTU’s on the old burner as it was given to me. I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Before I pull the trigger, I figure I’d ask what you guys were using?

Get a couple Bayou Classic propane burners or just one depending on how much your gift card is.

you need a jet or double jet burner for the boiling and keep the one you have for frying

I have this one and it's impressive although I've never cooked a bug in my life:

i have stopped using my jet and use my banjo way more. the noise of a jet just sucks.

This is actually one of the things I like most about a jet burner. Nothing let's you know you are home quite like the roar of a rolling pot of peppered water.

Does it put out like a jet? I would imagine it takes a while to get a 100 quart pot boiling.

i tested it while brewing beer and if i remember correctly it was like 2-3 mins slower than the jet. so no it didnt take much longer.

Damn man, I love that sound. It signifies the boil is on and also says leave the cook alone so he can enjoy his cocktail in peace.

Unfortunately HD doesn't sell it but I use the Bayou Classic SP40. It is a beast and can get your pot boiling quickly.

This one is nice and would probably never go bad, but if you have the cash to spare the ss40 is super heavy. I can’t imagine ever needing to buy another boiling burner.
