Is there anywhere in the region that I can buy 1000 sawtooth oak seedlings? Thanks in advance!

I gave away 200 last year. Guy came a pulled the up under my trees. I got 100 the year before. Basically did a bare root and replanted with 2 days. 97 of mine lived.
Where are you?

I’m don’t know what oaks they have, but the Missouri Dept of Conservation has hardwoods at around 60 cents a piece for orders over 100. Not sure what you are planning, but persimmon, crabapple, plum. etc are great trees too for wildlife.

Not all that impressed with the deer attraction of the sawtooth on our place.

Across the river from you. Not all that impressed with the deer attraction of the sawtooth on our place. Maybe it’s because there’s still crops in the field for the deer to feed on.

Can’t speak for other regions but agree. No way I’d plant any in the delta. Mast drips before the season opens when the deer are still on crops and browse.

The mast drop is usually mid september and last until about 1.5-2 weeks in october for me. Im in pike county. When they are dropping its an absolute magnet. Im not competing with crops though. I planted mine to diversify my property, add another food source that my neighbor doesnt have, and to create edge.
I love to bow hunt too, so it works in my favor. Also having another mast that drops different times than your other whites/reds just keeps more deer on you longer.
I always feel there is no waste in adding another food source regardless of if it’s huntable or not because that just holds more game in your area. Especially when it’s a no maintenance food source.

I'm in Jefferson County, and the Sawtooth's on the property get hammered in the September/October time frame.

Call your local county extension office and or your local USDA office.
The parish I own property in has a tree sale every year right around this time of the year.
