Just bought one. Looked at the glock, beretta, springfields and ruger.

Came down between the Springfield and the MP.

I really like it.

Anybody have any experience with the MP?

Widely regarded to be an excellent firearm. Some consider it an improvement on glock.

I have two M&P 9s. I think they have flocks beat ergonomically but I don't know about anywhere else. I've not heard much negative about them other than a less than great trigger.
You should feel good about the purchase IMO.

Yessir. Great firearm. Will be my next purchase.

Now do yourself a favor and go order a 357 Sig and 9mm barrel from MidwayUSA. This gun can run all 3 factory barrels with a simple barrel swap. You don't need to change the recoil spring or anything else; just the barrel.

EDIT: Also if you're not a fan of the stock trigger, check out Apex Tactical. They make a kit that improves the trigger and the reset.

What about the clips. Do they need to be changed.

357sig and .40 use the same mags. Idk about 9mm. I doubt 9mm works in the same mag

When you switch barrels, do you need to get another clip for the 9mm.

The clips that came with it has 40 / 357 sig on them already.

I don't know of any M&Ps that utilize clips.

The follower in the 40 mags may cause the slide to lock open on the second-to-last round if you're shooting 9mm. But it should function fine besides that.

If you want it to run 100%, get some 9mm mags, and run 40 and 357 sig in the 40 mags. 357 sig and 40 use the same sized case. The only difference is the bullet diameter.

EDIT: Here's a thread from a S&W forum showing the difference in barrels. The 9mm barrel will drop straight in.

Some up tight people around here regarding clips.

To me it's been clips for 43 years. Just like the horns on a deer, oh bang head bang head antlers. Sorry.

I got the M&P .45 at Christmas, and love it.

BTW...for your viewing pleasure.

Between the 9mm, .40, and .45, the .40 is the 'snappiest' of the M&P series.

I shot all 3 prior to making my purchase, and the .40 was a good bit snappier than the 9mm, and then when I moved to the .45, it was less so than the .40. None were uncomfortable, though.

Well what he's saying is, of all the 40s out there, the M&P is pretty smooth.

The M&P is the only semi auto I know of that was literally built around the .40 S&W and then scaled down for 9mm. For every other gun I've known, it's always been the reverse.

And Hogdaddy...

I'm gonna be using that.
