If you’re getting a lifetime pair then Van Staal is the only real answer.

Why? I prefer the aluminum pliers to stainless ones.

I like most here think it's nuts to spend that much on fishing pliers. I just got an unexpected gift that had a Bubba filet knife and pliers. I have not used either yet but both seem to be well made and have some coating that is supposed to be impervious to SW. Not sure what they cost either (Bubba stuff high as Snoop Dogg), but prolly less that VS type stuff.

Cheap from Cabela's, spend the difference on a mini-can of wd-40 for the tackle box and Aftco gloves so everyone knows you mean business.

Every pair I've owned slip or buckle while trying to remove a hook from a fish.

Most are a little small for my hands too.

Imo the Kast Kings I own are the best cheapest pair listed in this thread.

Does everything I need in 1 pair.

Hasn't slipped once while using.

Danco makes a pretty good pair for around $30, I wasn't convinced they would but I can attest to the fact the cutters will cut through the Daiichi Bleeding treble hooks found on Custom Corkys. My current pair have been on my wade belt a couple of years, get 3 years out of a pair and then retire them for a new pair.

Cheap steel pliers from wal mart work great. Just make sure you wash and oil them after every trip.

Beg to differ on dancos. Got a $35 pair from superior, broke the literal first use pulling the hook out of a sappers mouth. Returned superior exchanged them and second pair lasted maybe 2 outings.

Couldn’t bring myself to splurge on van staals. I have a pair of accurate pliers now for $90 I’m happy with

I have various pairs of random aluminum pliers bouncing around the leaning post that work great. I never bought any, no idea where they came from.

Its hillarious that there are $200 pairs of pliers that sell a single pair

I mean the Van Staahls are titanium and would last you forever. Only reason I stick with the cheapo $30 Danco is because they’re decent enough to last me until I inevitably lose them a few months later.

I would cry if I lost a $300 pair of pliers though.
