Any guesses as to how he killed it? Not sure how big a juvenile mountain lion is.

Big puss destroyed by runner

quote:

The unidentified runner never saw it coming, according to a statement by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), because the mountain lion pounced on him from behind as he was jogging the West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space in Fort Collins. The man said he heard a noise but was attacked before he was able to turn around. The animal was able to bite the runner’s face and wrist before the man fought back.

quote:

CPW did not confirm what method the man used to kill the animal, but they did verify that it was a juvenile mountain lion. Ty Petersburg, area wildlife manager for CPW, said this kind of wildcat — also known as a cougar or a panther — is not very common in Colorado.

Talk about cool under pressure. Imagine a cat the size of a Labrador pouncing on you from behind and having the composure to not only scare it away or simply survive, but to kill it.

It’s possible the guy had a knife on him, but I’m going with bare hands. I think he choked that pussy out. With the amount of adrenaline flowing it probably didn’t take long either.

I'm going with a big rock, although I truly believe that if I can get a rear naked choke on an animal, I can break its neck.

I’d stop breathing as soon as it touched my back.

That would be tough to keep choking it while your arms are getting shredded.

a mountain lion landing on my back and neck is one of the things I am terrified of, I bet those bastards hit you like a linebacker...a linebacker with teeth and claws and wants to eat you.

First thing I'd go for is the eyes and try to gouge them out. Next would be to try and get some type of rear naked choke on him with my legs wrapped around his body as best I could.

ETA: Looks like the guy choked/suffocated the lion to kill him.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man running on West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Park killed an attacking mountain lion by suffocating it Monday afternoon, according to a release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Right....they only have the largest counts of elk in the country* and we all know how much cats hate elk meat.

Edited for idiot mistake.
