With all the talk of .17 and .22mag last week, my wallet started burning. Ordered a Ruger American Model#8352 with the heavy threaded barrel.

Needs a good piece of glass for it but don't want to break the bank on something that is just going to go on a .22mag

Vortex or Meopta may be the best bang for buck right now. Put a Vortex on my 22-250, its a pretty damn good scope.

Nikon Prostaffs are quality lenses that hold zero for a reasonable price. Have them on a 30-06 and 270.

I had a little 4-12x40 simmons on my Marlin 22 mag. Couldn't tell you the number of tree rats I killed with that set up. A vortex Crossfire 3-9x40 would work good too.

I’ve got a vortex diamond on my cz 453. And a pos Bushnell Banner on my Henry. I don’t have much use on the vortex but it’s nice. The banner I beat to shite and it holds zero all day. I probably check it once a year. Nice little scope and with 1-4x, the 1x is basically a red dot.

I have a redfield 2x7 rimfire scope on my ruger american .22 mag. I love it, I haven't found myself needing more than 7 power yet.

The Leupold rimfire series is nice. I have the 3x9 on my 39A and it's awesome.

Just purchased one of these for my 22 and really enjoy it. Great scope at a good price.

Yeah I wouldn't think I need anything more than that. Saw a $100 Simmons on Amazon, thought about giving that or Nikon prostaff rimfire a try.

Thanks for the replies. Going to look into the Nikon and Vortex. Leupold wouldn't be a bad choice, just a little more than I'd like to spend.

Will update when it arrives

I bet you'll like your new gun. One of my hunting buddies has a Ruger 77/22 in 22 Mag and it's one of his "go to guns." His will shoot 1" groups (sometimes less) at 100 yards w/ Critical Critical Defense ammo. I'm not sure how much magnification you want/need on your new scope. Call me a "El Cheapo", but I've had good experiences using low end, inexpensive scopes on rimfire. For general hunting/plinking, I lean towards 2-7X or possibly 3-9X. I've got an old Tasco, an old Simmons and a low end Burris on 22's. My son's 10/22 has a factory refurb Nikon 2-7X. On my 17 Mach 2 and my son's 17 HMR, I've got a Mueller 4.5-14X Tactical and a Mueller 4.5-14X APV. The Mueller's are well thought of on the Rimfirecentral.com site. It's hard to go wrong on rimfire scopes. If you get a scope that doesn't have an adjustable objective, I'd consider getting a scope designed for a rimfire. You might get parallel problems using a big game scope at the close rimfire ranges. I would stay away from Barska and NcStar.

Meopta best bang for the buck? They’re great but a seven hundred dollar scope for a Ruger American 22 mag?

Redfield makes so very good scopes for the price. I think they are made by leupold.

Was just looking at some clearance scopes on cabelas website. There’s a Nikon bdc for a 50cal muzzleloader for 119$ good glass just wrong lines if that’s important to you. Have had good luck with cabelas rimfire specific scopes with turrets as well as the bdc version. Sure is fun walking shots in on a crow or Coon at 150-200 yards

There was a thread maybe a yr ago that was saying cabelas scopes are actually rebranded meoptas. Not sure about now after the BPS buyout
