re: Researching Kayaks is harder than researching a car.

I know nothing about yaks, but shirley this is a joke. Right?

Terrible advice, Hobie gurus sometimes get tunnel vision and forget other companies make quality boats. Demo, demo, demo.
As an Outback guy, I agree. Many do not realize the Outback is a late 80's, early 90's design for a recreation touring kayak. After thought in hull rod holders are the only thing that makes it labeled a fishing kayak. There have been many advancements in fishing kayaks over the last few years.
Now that I have done hands free I can not go back. Pedaling increases range, endurance, and most importantly ... the ability to fish in higher winds. My vote is Slayer Propel or Outback Mirage Drive.

Not to add to the confusion...but this is what I'm looking at getting. Looks like they only have 1-2 dealers in LA so they may not have much of a presence down there.
Feel Free Lure
Thing I really like about it is the width, standing base, seat and track system. Doesn't rudder or foot propel option which kinda sucks though.

Nice looking Yak. Haven't heard of them.

Never owned a yak and only fished one a few times. Haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet because it's hard to know what's important without experience. For me personally the track seems like a bonus, being able to easily adjust things without it being in a fixed spot.

I figured the ability to stand and also not having to depend on the paddle all the time was a must for me. That's why I like the Hobie and the Slayer. Even the KC and Nucanoe you can easily mount a TM. Also I think 12' is the perfect length for me.

Wish those were lighter.

I have a '15 cuda 14. I've also fished out of a '15 outback. I try to make myself love the outback but I'd rather my cuda. I fish some really shallow water for reds and that's a weakness for the outback compared to the cuda

I loved everything about my Mojo Angler but the seat. If Emotion would have built a stadium seat model, I'd be in one.

I put many hours in research myself. Sounds like you are going thru the same tribulations that I did. I almost pulled the trigger on the PA 14, but settled in the Frontier.

These are bluemoon's. Same boat,

At 6'4", I struggle to stay comfortable in most fishing yaks.
I suffered through it when paddling whitewater, but I want to have the option to be lazy in a fishing rig.

Apparently, it makes a difference though. Put me in a small car, and I have to stop every couple hours. I hang off of queen size beds. Don't fit on old roller coasters. I could bitch and whine for hours.

If you're going to fish tournaments hard to beat a Hobie. If not, get a stable boat with a frame seat with hi and low positions, and add a Bassyaks motor. You're then covered for all situations.

Are the Bassyak motors saltwater resistant?
Posted on 6/4/16 at 9:34 am to LSUlefty
No kidding. I'm going to make a purchase today, but I am trying to figure out the differences between the Perception Sport Pescador 12' and the Perception Pescador Angler 12'. I much prefer the simple green of the sport, but being cheaper, I'm afraid their may be a downside. Both get great reviews, though.

I think you have to upgrade for the saltwater version. Bassyaks are pretty high. You can DIY pretty easy. (Especially on a yak with a transom ready to accept a TM)
