You're really going to like the New Mercury's then since they're superior to anything on the water now

All I’m saying is I’m taking a Verado over a Yamaha engine all day everyday. I ran both for years and Mercury’s Vessel View system is leaps and bounds better than Yamaha’s engine monitoring system and my Yamaha’s F350’s were nothing but trouble. I blew two damn flywheels in 4 years with those motors. Nothing like blowing a flywheel in Green Canyon 130 miles from Southwest Pass...

Pump the brakes, mercs stay broke down all the time so why would a charter boat hang them if they don’t work and lose $$$$?????

Charter Capt.'s flip boats all the time. They are getting rid of them before issues start to pile up

You mean the owners flip them, right?
Since resale on Mercs are so terrible, wouldn't they be hard to move?

These hulls, outboards, trailers are financed. Technically bank owns them. For the purposes we are talking about the "owner" is the individual's name listed on the loan. In most cases the Charter Capt. or LLC for charter business is the name listed on loan.

Resale isn't fantastic on any outboard. Most sellers would rather not seperate 4 300+ hp from an offshore fishing vessel. To seperate and sell would require more work, time, etc... this equates to extra labor, steps, and $$$ that will not be recouped in sale.

I have a 08 verado and have replaced a steering cylinder (had to buy the whole thing for a blown seal), power steering pump (not a normal hydarulic steering system), and cracked tilt cylinder in the past year. The tilt cylinder is what it is although pretty strange, but the steering system is stupid. It's more shite that can break and those replacements cost almost 2x what a whole new sea star system would have cost.
