You'd rather that than On the Half Shell?

After you catch it keep it very cold. Then bring it to me and I will cut the outside off as carefully as possible and give you the outside back for mounting, right after dinner.

Measure it, photos with it, then get a fiberglass one made if you really want a mount.

Yep. Don’t mount the fish. Get a replica.

Just get a replica. They look better than skin mounts (see photos above).

I've seen some other stuff from the guy in St. Bernard and he does good work, but I wouldn't be happy with either one of those mounts. Maybe the first, but the light makes it difficult to tell how the colors turned out. The second one is pretty bad. IMO mounts should look as realistic as possible and it seems very difficult to do that skin mounting saltwater fish. Replicas do a much better job.

Those aren’t very good

Here’s a replica mount from New Wave Taxidermy who does excellent work. They aren’t cheap but his detail is really great.

I've never had a redfish mounted, but those looked good to me

You can tell I'm no saltwater fisherman

Look at the difference in the fins in skin vs replica. It’s a no brainer as to what looks better

Do it. When I was around 7 or so I caught a big arse sheephead fishing with my Dad. My dad had it mounted and I thought it was cool as hell. Brought it to class for "show and tell". The fact that it was a sheephead is hilarious to me even to this day. I lost it in Katrina

Get a Fiberglass mount. You can tell the taxidermist to add a few inches and pounds if your so inclined (Will make it all the better for the kid). New Wave is the best but there are probably others out there that may be a little easier on the wallet.
