So I bought some Erickson recovery straps and Rhino D rings and a Rhino hitch receiver. I have a Ford F 150, 3.5 ecoboost, max towing capacity= 11,500.

Out of the three I would like the strap to fail first. Will it? I’m just making sure.

Erickson Straps= 27,000 lbs Max load, 13,500 lbs Max Vehicle Weight
Rhino D Rings= 41,850lbs Capacity
Rhino Hitch= 31,418lb Max Break Strength

Erickson straps

Rhino D rings

Rhino hitch

I can easily return any of my purchases so if you recommend something else just let me know. Just looking for a multi task recovery strap to maybe pull a buddy out of the mud at the lease or help a truck out on a boat launch if they are spinning. I already know to access the situation and walk away if I think I think the task is too big. I would appreciate it if you could share your recovery setup for your 1/2 ton truck.

If they’re underwater it may already be too late.

Yeah, I would not even attempt in this case. They need something bigger like a F-350 or a tow truck.

I have this one.

LINK

it pulled a ton of vehicles out of the sand at Elmers island on my f150. I wouldnt want any of those to fail. It would go off like a rocket and something would be destroyed.

Not true, just need a 4wheel drive in low with a heavy load in the kess. My buddy pulled a F-150 hooked up to a carolina skiff out the water with a 1/2 ton Z-71.

My money is on you never using any of this stuff. This coming from someone who used to "prepare". All this will do is give you false security and make you create situations to use it "because you have it".

I think you are right. I’m looking at $80 just to be a nice guy.

No disrespect, which I think you saw. Just if you have it you're gonna wanna use it, I'd keep a good strap for basic pulling. Anything else usually results in damage to one or both vehicles.

The ford welds will fail first

Don't over think it.

I buy 1.5 inch straps on Amazon for that reason. They are cheap, and if they pop I was doing something stupid.

ETA: having a nonturboed V6, I always use the strap to anchor and the winch to pull someone out.

If you watch Motoalliance auctions on eBay, they occasionally forget to put a reserve on their winches. I got a 12k vmax with an amsteel ssynthetic line for under 300 to my door.

webbed rigging capacities. your overall capacity is your weakest link. think bumper rating or hitch rating or even the bolts that attach hitch to frame.
one ply strap? 13,500 lbs 27,000 lb break that sounds fishy

The max towing capacity is not 11,500#. That may well be the max combined weight of truck and trailer.

The stuff you're looking at is fine. More than adequate.

Kinda why I quit carrying booster cables. I used them for so many others but never for myself.

How much do you weigh? How often do you need to be recovered?

I've used the Rhino USA tow rope many times and it has NEVER failed me. Even pulled out a 40-foot semi in the sand with it.

Heres the link if u wanna check it out:

Always buy the best when it comes to this type of equipment.
Look at Van Beest if you want a D-Ring type. Safer would be a soft shackle. For the hitch receiver, I would buy a Factor 55. Also, look into a good quality kinetic recover rope.
