Recommend some good artificials to catch tail red's in shallow water..

Twice in my last 3 kayak expeditions I have located tailing reds blowing up bait at high tide along the marsh grass in 8-12" of water. Assume that water clarity is about 1 foot. I've tried New Penny Gulp, Mud minnow gulp, gold spoon, bone color she dog, saltwater assassins(mostly dark colored plastics).
I saw minnows and shrimp jumping out of their way, but didnt get so much as a bump.
So my question is, who has caught tailing reds recently, what did you use, can you offer any tips about my scenarios above? Also, how far in front of these fish should I be casting?
Thanks in advance.

Throw a fly. You'll get them on that

I've always had the best luck with new penny gulp.

How far in front of them should I be trying to land it?

AngryBeavers? Really that's the best handle you could come up with?

less than a foot or 2. I've hit them in the head sometimes and gotten a bite....all depends on how aggressive they are feeling that day

Try Spinner Bait by Strike King. I've had reds bite them defensively. Also try putting a small piece of dead shrimp along with your Gulp. I have found out that they bite more on this when they are finicky.
Nothing more frustrating than seeing reds all over the place while sitting in your yak and not getting many bites. Good luck and welcome to the board.

Rattletrap or gold spoon

i go as light as possible, so as not to spook them when the bait hits the water. think DOA shrimp, gulp bait on bare hook, no weight. Also, throw past them by 5'-10', then bump the bait along in front of them. hard to resist.

I like Storm Minnows. They are a swim bait (Bunker color is my favorite) that I have been successful with.
That and redfish spinners with a cocahoe on them.

Spinner bait or black spoon...but NOT the POS Nemire spoon that the hooks fall out of. Get a Johnson Silver Minnow single hook spoon in black. If you run one slowly in front of them, and they don't eat it, you're hallucinating. They aren't really there.

Someone at work swears by these when they aren't cooperating. Had this same conversation after my last trip. He said throw it weightless so it still has that wounded action.

damn son. A lot of people have told me recently they're having trouble catching reds. Popping cork with dead shrimp or spinnerbait always works for me. For reds I have never fished anything but that or a carolina rigged shrimp.
The biggest tip I can give you for redfish:
If you're not catching, change spots not lures. (ie. COVER GROUND)
Good luck.

I see a correlation here.
Its the only way to fish
Those redfish look like torpedos chasing a topwater bait. Only problem is they have actually bent and ruined some hitting them so hard.
