Yeah, not a bad choice. With a worm hook rigged weedless/texas style, it'll stay right in front of their face until they're pissed off enough to hit it.

Definately frustrating when you paddle right over 4 of them all 20" plus and can't get so much as a nibble. I was throwing live shrimp but the hardheads and croakers would take it as soon as the bait hit the water.

I can honestly say I haven't used a shrimp for redfish bait in over 10 years.

In this situation, the fish (obviously) aren't actively feeding. They aren't hungry. They aren't gonna eat something just sitting there under a cork or on the bottom. What you need to do is create a reaction bite...which you can do by putting something that pisses them off in their face and twitching it.
