Ranger vs Express aluminum

I have an old Mariner 115 from an old Procraft that runs like a BOOHell. Looking to buy a hull for it. Really like both hulls each make at around 19'. Been on Facebook marketplace looking for used but obviously most come with either a Yamaha (Express) or Mercury/Evinrude (Ranger). What say you OB? Can't do fiberglass, fish alot of stumpy areas. TIA

I had 3 Xpress boats before I moved on to a "glitter boat", I had a XP50, H51, and a X19.

We bought a new '21 Xpress H18 with the 115 SHO. I'm not into speed on the water, but you know I had to open it up. Best I got was 49 with the stock aluminum prop; I have not opened it up with the SS prop.
It's mostly used in the Atchafalaya Basin and have taken it on the Atchafalaya River as well as the Vermilion Bay. No complaints on the ride or stability in reasonable waves.
It does not like reverse for what ever reason; trimmed up, down, halfway it backs up like a damn barge.
The Seadek is nice, quiet and cool in the deep of summer, but cats around the house really like to claw at it. It is kept under a canopy and with the cover on it, but they still get to it.

Thanks, have always liked Express, but the Ranger 188 looks nice too. It'll be Toledo B, Sam Rayburn and Big Lake mostly with a few smaller lakes thrown in and is where the stumps come in. This motor was on a glitter Pro Craft 94. Damage to the hull that I fixed, but now only fish open water because of it. Need a new/used hull. Seen a few around here in the late teens for around 17000-19000 but with power. Price of a new Yamaha 115 is around 12000 new so thinking maybe getting a used hull for 5 maybe 6 grand. Not sure what new hulls are without power. Just downloaded Express catalog but everything is with power.

Xpress .125 vs Ranger .100 hull thickness would push me towards xpress but I am rough rough on equipment

The Xpress will be the faster ride. I had an 18' xpress before getting my current x19 while bro in law has had 2 of the 188 rangers. The ranger rides better in a chop but the xpress had the better fishing layout. I absolutely love my x19 but a 115 is not enough motor for it.

The X19 that I had was rigged with a Yamaha 200HPDI, was plenty, lol

If you are looking for aluminum, I suggest Seaark.

I wouldn't buy anything from Ranger since it was bought by Bass Pro

I have a 2015 RT188 and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s been reliable, rides great, fishes very stable, deck is laid out like a glass boat, cupped prop and ground off hull tabs and I can hit 52-53 by myself. It has a 12 degree dead rise instead of 10 degree like other mod V aluminums. Now the there’s a pad hull version of the RT188. That would be nice, but again I couldn’t be happier with this boat.

Thanks Boo. Been looking for years at different hulls, aluminum. And this particular style seems like a fit for me.
