I quit dipping but the hardest part is having the urge to dip during baseball games, while fishing, hunting, after a big meal, or on road trips. Just have to have the will power and discipline to quit. I’ll chew gum or put some mints in my mouth whenever I have the urge. It’s worth it man and best of luck!

Fully loaded

Let me know if it helps. I’ve heard good things but have yet to pull the trigger. I don’t know how I’m going to quit because I enjoy it too much.

I quit almost twenty years ago. This was after the dentist recommended I come back for a biopsy. It was not cancer. My good buddy never quit completely till recently. He noticed a spot on his lip. He had biopsy on his lip. It also was not cancer. I'd think long and hard about whether or not you want to die from mouth cancer. With all those lymph nodes in the neck and salivary glands mouth cancer is bad. Sometimes they start removing parts of your mouth until there is not much left. I'd quit.

Walt. Fully loaded tasted like assholes in a can. They sent me an email asking if I liked it and when I told them no they said that they had a malfunction with the flavor or something. Would not recommend.

Yeah I’ve never had it so I didn’t know. It looks decent. I think I’m still going to order a can or two but I won’t make a bulk order now until after I’ve tried it. Thanks

My twins are 16 so I quit about 12 years ago. We adopted them when I was 40 and really want to be there for them for a LONG time. My dad passed away when I was in my 20s and certainly could have used his good advice as a young adult.

I realized that I wanted to be there for my kids, but wasn’t doing much on my end to ensure I’d be there. I quit dipping and never looked back. I need to lose that weight I packed on afterward though.

I have a hard time not doing it on the tractor and lawn mower. Those two are the worst. Work is a close 2nd.

Amazing how 5 years later I still want the stuff every now and then but it isnt hard to let it pass anymore. You dont realize how much it becomes a part of the things you do.

Also, be prepared to gain weight :bangjead:

I've quit and gone back to it once. This weekend actually marks the one year anniversary since I've quit again.

You have to find out what works for you. It takes a combination of things for me. Gum, lifesavers, sunflower seeds, more coffee. Starting an exercise routine you enjoy helps. You may want to avoid triggers for a while if you can. The things that your brain will tell you, "I can't do that without a dip". I had to avoid fishing for a while, but I'm past that now. You married, have a girlfriend? Kids? Include them in your corner as support. You are doing this first and foremost for yourself, but partly you are doing this for them too.

You aren't the first one to do this. It can be done. YOU can do it. It will get easier after a couple weeks, then suddenly one day it will come back. Not as strong, but just a little reminder. Don't fall for it. The little reminder passes.

ETA: the shite really is poison.

more coffee

I went a full year w/o coffee when I quit smoking, that was my biggest trigger.

I can see that. Like I said, we are all different and everyone has to find what works for them. Im sure beer is also a big trigger for many. I bet you are able to enjoy coffee again now.

Definitely enjoy it now, although 1 or sometimes 2 cups is all I need. I enjoy it better but in a different way than back when I smoked. It use to be like crack to me, now I can actually enjoy the coffee. I use to drink a whole pot with my smokes every single morning.

Just quit - cold turkey.

There will be times when you'll be tempted to backslide, But if you're really gonna quit, then quit.

I "quit" 7 or 8 times. When I finally quit (cold turkey), I quit. That was over 30 years ago.

This!

I quit 10 years ago after many failed attempts with replacements.

There were many times during the first 3-6 months that I almost failed. I had buddies that I made swear that they wouldn't give me a dip. When those moments happened I got their can and took a big whiff and then handed it back to them. That helped me a lot. Just being able to smell it during those moments saved me.

Not a day goes by that I don't want one but, I know if I ever tried it again, I would never stop.

Good luck

Doing it now with dip. Honesty cold turkey is the way to go. Grab a lot of gum and just chew it or keep it in your lip where your dip use to be. It’s helped me so far.

Probably just a mind game for me but I legit carried around a full can of dip the whole first week and I never touched it. I think I would have freaked out not knowing that I didn’t have it if I really needed it. So I just kept it on me at all times and never touched it

Wintergreen lifesavers helped me. I think I'm hooked on the taste and smell of wintergreen just as much as the nicotine.

I forgot to address the OP's real question. I have used the fake stuff some. It did help me some, but others tell me it would actually do the opposite for them. I think if you try the fake stuff the day you give up the real stuff, it won't help you. I had gone two or three weeks without it, and my lip just needed to have a dip there. I tried the fake stuff and it was really everything I wanted it to be. I only used it when I needed it. Not like the real thing where you do it all day long and shite. I'd have maybe two a day at work or hunting and fishing. The brand was Smokey Mountain. They even add a hint of cayenne pepper to make it burn like the real thing. I haven't used any of that since hunting season ended. It helped ME some. It may or may not help you. Find the the things that help YOU. They are there. You can do it.

Like already mentioned, go cold turkey. Remove tobacco products entirely. I quit almost 17 years ago now and when I decided to quit I just put the cigarettes down and have not had on ever since.

The first couple weeks are the hardest, but once I got past that, it got easier and easier. It's amazing how much your sense of smell and taste come around by improving once you quit putting that crap in your lungs.

Good luck no matter how you go about it.

Oh, and my wife quit the same time I did, but only lasted 2 weeks and has still not stopped.

Quitting smoking is a piece of cake compared to quitting dipping

It's not for everyone, but I used Chantix to quit...the last time I quit. I stayed off of Copenhagen for about 2.5 years. I relapsed a few years ago, but will try again as soon as I convince myself.
